Spurs versus Sunderland under 23’s: (match preview)

“I’m buzzing at the moment, I’m looking forward to the start of the season a lot! All the boys are ready for it. We did well in France and now we’re very excited to start. We’ll be doing everything we can to get our first win on Friday.” (Shilow Tracey)

IMG_3161.JPG

Our under 23’s play their first competitive game of the season on Friday night. When Wayne Burnett’s side travel to County Durham to face Sunderland under 23’s in what is their first PL2 game of the season. The game which is taking place at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare ground, will be a game that I am pleased to announce that I will be reporting on. Fridays game comes at a good time for Wayne Burnett’s side, they’ve enjoyed a successful pre season which saw them crowned winners of the annual European under 21 tournament in France. Along with the cup success, they also recorded a highly impressive victory over league two side Cambridge United at the U’s home ground. Elliot Dickman’s side will be a tough opening day opposition for Spurs, players such as Rees Greenwood, Lynden Gooch, and Joel Asoro all potential players Burnett’s side could come up against. We enjoyed two fiercely competitive games against the black cats last season, a brace from Shilow Tracey secured a 2-2 draw up in County Durham. Before the reverse fixture saw us win 1-0 at the Lamex stadium in a hard fought match, Kazaiah Sterling got the winner that day. The town where the game will be taking place (Hetton Le Hole) has a rich footballing history, with it being the birthplace of both former Spurs man Ralph Coates, and legendary former Liverpool manager Bob Paisley. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the lads get on against Sunderland tomorrow, I will be writing an in depth match report of the game. COYS

Team news: 18 year olds George Marsh and Nick Tsaroulla haven’t been involved in any of the official pre season games with Burnett’s side (presumably through injury) so I wouldn’t expect them to be involved in tomorrow evenings game. It’s been over two weeks since forward Cy Goddard (20) was pictured training with Japanese side Yokohama F Marinos, and I am still none the wiser as to whether he has departed the lilywhites for the J league club, I would be surprised to see him involved against Sunderland. Kyle Walker-Peters is expected to be involved in Pochettino’s senior squad against Newcastle on Sunday so I doubt he will be involved, another player who could travel to Newcastle is winger Anthony Georgiou. In addition goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman will also likely travel to Newcastle with the senior squad as the number three goalkeeper. With the under 18’s playing their first game of the season against Norwich on Saturday, I’d expect players such as Oliver Skipp, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Tariq Hinds to stay behind for that game.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Austin, Eyoma, Maghoma, Tanganga, Bennetts, (C)Amos, Pritchard, Tracey, Miller, Edwards, Harrison.

My score prediction: 2-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Edwards and Harrison.

One to watch: Sunderland’s 18 year old forward and Swedish under 21 international who is one of Sunderland’s brightest youth prospects. Maja who has already featured for Sunderland’s senior team, joined the north east club from Swedish side Brommapojkarna back in 2015. The striker who scored six goals for Sunderland’s development squad last season, was really impressive when I saw him in action against Spurs at the Lamex stadium last term.

A couple of thoughts on Josh Onomah’s performance against Colchester:

A couple of thoughts on Josh Onomah’s performance against Colchester:

IMG_3174.JPG

Spurs youngster Josh Onomah (20) made his first start for loan club Aston Villa this evening in the Carabao cup. And what a classy performance it was too, Onomah played a starring role in Villla’s 2-1 win over Colchester United in the first round of the league cup. When the Spurs starlet was loaned out to the championship club on a season long loan last Friday, it was met with much surprise from Spurs supporters with myself included, I was expecting him to get more first team action for the lilywhites over the current campaign. Onomah’s performance this evening saw him excel in his natural central midfield position. It was a tidy and complete performance from Onomah, who controlled the midfield against the league two side, he looked right at home in Steve Bruce’s team. He was deep lying just as he was for England’s triumphant under 20 side over the summer, it may have been against league two opposition, but I felt that Onomah really asserted himself in a youthful Aston Villa side. He kept his game simple, he really imposed himself on the opposition with his strength both on and off the ball, it was fair to say it was a Mousa Dembelesque performance from Onomah. The midfielders range of passing was impressive, as too was the many surging runs he made from the centre of the park.

Despite his defensive role he managed to create some really good chances, overall it was a very impressive full debut from the promising Onomah. It reminded me of a similar midfield shift he put in against Reading under 23’s in a game which I saw him involved in last season. He bossed the midfield on that occasion with a confident classy showing, and he replicated that high quality performance this evening. Whilst he has been predominantly used as a winger by Pochettino, the youngster now has a great chance to show Pochettino that he can flourish in his preferred central midfield role. Onomah would have undoubtedly impressed Villa boss Steve Bruce with his performance tonight, and it will improve his chances of claiming a starting berth in the Aston Villa squad during their championship campaign. Aston Villa travel to Cardiff on Saturday for a league match and it will be interesting to see whether Bruce picks Onomah to start that game after such an impressive performance this evening. Spurs loanees weekly round up:

Spurs loanees weekly round up:

IMG_3158.JPG

Of our four players currently out on loan there’s been plenty of involvement over the last week. In a new weekly blog post I’ll be monitoring the progress of each loanee. 19 year old goalkeeper Tom Glover joined Australian A league side Central Coast Mariners on a season long loan last month. He was an unused substitute in their 3-2 defeat to Blacktown in the FFA cup on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 21 year old leftback Connor Ogilvie enjoyed a fine competitive debut with league one club Gillingham on Saturday. Ogilvie who played the game at left wing back, helped the Gill’s to record a clean sheet away to Doncaster in their 0-0 draw. It was Gillingham’s first game of the league one season, they play again in the Carabao cup on Tuesday against Reading. Spurs fans were surprised to hear the news that highly rated 20 year old midfielder Josh Onomah had been loaned out to Aston Villa on Friday morning. Just a day later Onomah played his first game for Steve Bruce’s side. Coming on as a 78th minute substitute, in their 1-1 draw with Hull City. Onomah could well make his first start for Villa in their Carabao cup tie with Colchester in midweek. Finally, in the early hours of this morning, Spurs loanee Anton Walkes continued to cement his place in MLS side Atlanta United’s squad. The 20 year old defender played the full 90 minutes of their 1-1 draw to Sporting Kansas. The right back continues to impress in Gerardo Martino’s talented side. COYS

Spurs 2-0 Juventus: (match report)

Spurs 2-0 Juventus: (match report)

“A lot of their players played in the Champions League Final last season and we dominated from the start, pressed high, got that early goal and controlled the game from there. It was a great performance and one that will give us a lot of confidence going forward into the new season.” (Harry Kane)

IMG_3151.JPG

Spurs rounded off their preseason with a superb display over Italian side Juventus on Saturday evening. As Mauricio Pochettino’s players put in a commendable performance, outplaying one of Europes finest sides under the Wembley arch. We were on great form, our lads were sharp and fluid as a great team performance saw us comfortably see off last seasons champions league finalists in a game, which we controlled from the offing. Desperate to adapt to our new home for the current season it was imperative that we got a result to boost our confidence. After a fairly uneventful opening 10 minutes, Pochettino’s lads opened the scoring after a wonderfully worked teaam goal which started from the back. After a couple of well exchanged passes the ball came to Mousa Sissoko who picked out Trippier down the right wing. Trippier delivering a peach of a cross into the box which was met by Kane, who powered an excellent header past Gianluigi Buffon, to put us one up. Juventus replied with a couple of decent efforts, first from Paulo Dybala who created space before lashing over, and then through Higuain who forced a fine save from Lloris from the following corner. We remained in control of the game and our constant pressing of the visitors saw us almost double our lead on the half hour mark. Stephan Lichtensteiner’s pass back to Buffon was won by the on rushing Kane after Buffon’s bad first touch, Kane tried to get the ball past the Italian international. But Chiellini was their to make a perfectly timed sliding challenge.

IMG_3154.JPG

We continued to attack and just minutes later we came desperately close to doubling our lead, courtesy of an excellent solo effort by Sissoko, after receiving a pass by Alli
Sissoko ran the length of the Juventus half before cutting inside on his right and curling an effort, which so unfortunately hit the inside of Buffon’s post before going away from danger. An excellent effort from the powerful and pacy winger who put in one of his best shifts in a Spurs shirt yesterday. A worrying injury sustained by Trippier on the stroke of half time put a dampener on what had been a very good first half display. We started the second half with the same confidence and quality that we had left the first in. And just minutes in we doubled our lead through the potent Christian Eriksen. The Dane made a perfectly time run into the box as he latched on to Alli’s through ball, before calmly taking the ball past Buffon and tapping home into the empty net. Kane almost made it three shortly afterwards when his move with Eriksen ended with him firing an effort at goal which was tipped wide, courtesy of a vital touch from Buffon.

Juventus were eager to get a way back into the game, Dybala sending Douglas Costa’s cross narrowly wide before testing Lloris with a fine effort. Dybala cut inside on the edge of the area before curling an effort in the direction of the far post which was expertly stopped by Lloris. The introduction of young Italian starlet Moise Kean provided a boost for the visitors, shortly after being introduced the forward received a delightful pass in the area, but the youngster could only manage to hit his effort against the crossbar, much to the relief of Lloris. Former Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado threatened our clean sheet five minutes from time. The Colombian embarked on a surging run down the right before powering an effort at goal, which was spectacularly denied by Lloris. The final score in Spurs final preseason game, Spurs 2-0 Juventus. A highly impressive performance at our new temporary home, to give us a big confidence boost ahead of our first league game away to Newcastle United next Sunday. COYS

IMG_3155.JPG

My man of the match: Christian Erisken. Utterly superb performance from the Danish international who has been without doubt our best player of preseason. He dazzled behind Kane, his movement, passing and goal were of real quality.

Player reviews: – Hugo Lloris: Top performance from the captain, made a string of top saves.
– Kieran Trippier: Was superb at right back (assisted opener) before being worryingly forced off through injury late on in the first half.
– Toby Alderweireld: Typically flawless and efficient defensive display from Alderweireld helped us record a clean sheet.
– Jan Vertonghen: Made some really good runs out of defence, whilst also making a big contribution to our clean sheet.
– Ben Davies: Solid and assured performance at left back.
– Eric Dier: Efficient and tidy.
– Mousa Dembele: Dominant midfield performance from the Belgian, made a real impression on the game.
– Moussa Sissoko: His best performance in a Spurs shirt by some distance. Sissoko was superb against Juventus, powerful, pacy and involved. The Frenchman was really sharp, playing a big part in the first goal, Sissoko was also desperately unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself.
– Dele: Assisted Eriksen’s goal with a well timed pass, Alli was a real creative threat throughout the game.
– Christian Erisken: My man of the match, Erisken continued his excellent pre season with another top display, he was the creative spark behind an excellent team display. He also took his goal really well.
– Harry Kane: On top of his game. Our talisman lead the line perfectly well, scored a fine header and was unlucky not to have scored more.
– Kyle Walker-Peters: Replaced the injured Kieran Trippier late on in the first half and the 20 year old looked right at home in the side. Solid and assured performance at right back.
– Harry Winks: The substitute put in a good shift in the midfield.
– Anthony Georgiou: Pochettino gave the young winger he’s second game in a Spurs shirt and he seized his opportunity yet again. He was hungry for the ball down the left wing, he was non stop both offensively and defensively, he just wanted to run past the Juventus defenders. I could see Georgiou being used as an impact sub over the coming season, he could become a very useful player.

Spurs (4-2-3-1): Lloris (c), Trippier (Walker-Peters 41), Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele (Wimmer 90), Sissoko (Georgiou 65), Dele (Winks 65), Eriksen (Oakley-Boothe 90), Kane (Janssen 78). Substitutes (not used): Vorm, Whiteman, Carter-Vickers, Dinzeyi, Miller.

Juventus (4-2-3-1): Buffon (c, Pinsoglio 76), Lichtsteiner (De Sciglio 46), Rugani (Barzagli 60), Chiellini (Benatia 60) Alex Sandro (Asamoah 46), Khedira (Bentancur 75), Pjanic (Marchisio 46), Douglas Costa (Bernardeschi 60), Dybala, Mandzukic (Cuadrado 46), Higuain (Kean 75). With little more then a week before Spurs kick off the 2017/18 season away to Newcastle United, there’s no better final pre season game then the one that will be taking place tomorrow. When Pochettino’s Spurs side host Italian Serie A holders and champions league finalists Juventus at the national stadium. Saturday evenings game will be the last match that Spurs will play before the season begins, with the Spurs players and fans alike hoping for a good result to get them going ahead of next Sunday’s season opener. When this glamour tie was announced last month it had certainly whet the appetite of Spurs fans, with the prospect of facing Italian giants Juventus a great way to round off our pre season campaign. It also provides Spurs fans with the opportunity to watch some of the finest players in the game, with Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Gianluigi Buffon just some of the world class players the Italian club have on their books. Whilst new signing (elegant winger) Fernando Bernadeschi will be sure to test our wing backs. I’m also hoping to get to see young Juventus and Italian youth international Moise Kean in action. The 17 year old forward is one of the biggest prospects in Italian football. It would be great for us to get a good result against Juventus tomorrow, but I’m just looking forward to seeing how we play against this phenomenal team and potential champions league opposition. The premier league seasons just a little over a week away, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how we play in our final pre season game. COYS

Team news: Erik Lamela, Son and Danny Rose will all miss out through injury, though Frenchman Moussa Sissoko who missed Spurs’ tour of the USA with a virus, is expected to return to action tomorrow, whilst Victor Wanyama will return after missing the last game with a knee injury. Another player who won’t be featuring tomorrow is young midfielder Josh Onomah who has today been signed on a season long loan by championship side Aston Villa. It will be interesting to see which youngsters Pochettino selects for the game with our squad already quiet thin this season, I’d expect Pochettino to give a fair few of our academy starlets game time against Juventus. The one most Spurs fans will be excited about seeing is young Marcus Edwards (18) who recently signed a new contract with the lilywhites. The dazzling forward missed out on our tour to the USA due to his involvement in England under 19’s successful Euro campaign over the summer. I’m also hoping that Kyle Walker-Peters will get a good run out at right back tomorrow, ahead of what I’m hoping will be a breakthrough season for the 20 year old. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see wingers Samuel Shashoua and Will Miller be a part of tomorrows match day squad.

My predicted lineup: (3-4-2-1) Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Wimmer, Trippier, Winks, Dembele, Davies, Alli, Eriksen, Janssen.

My score prediction: 2-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Janssen and Kane.

One to watch: The incredible Paulo Dybala, with his mesmeric skill, balance and goal scoring ability. The forward is a rising star within the game, the Argentinian international was a star of Juventus champions league campaign last season.

Some thoughts on the Paulo Gazzaniga to Spurs rumours:

Some thoughts on the Paulo Gazzaniga to Spurs rumours:

IMG_3140.JPG

It’s fair to say most Spurs fans were surprised when they heard the news, that we had been linked with Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. The youngish Argentine goalkeeper (25) spent last season on loan with Spanish segunda division side Rayo Vallecano. Reports are suggesting that Pochettino is interested in signing the goalkeeper, presumably to make added competition between Lloris and Vorm for the first place spot. Gazzaniga who hails from the same town in Argentina as Pochettino (Murphy) could well become Spurs’ first addition of the summer. I must admit I was very surprised when I heard of this rumour yesterday morning, from the point of view that we already have two excellent first team goalkeepers and a whole host of talented academy goalkeepers who have such a bright future in the game. However, we’ve also got to bear in mind the fact that we probably won’t be signing Pau Lopez from Espanyol this summer. Lopez who spent last season on loan at Spurs, despite not featuring for the senior side, he gave Pochettino that security of knowing that he had a keeper in his side capable of stepping in were there to be an injury crisis. I was desperately hoping we’d sign Lopez whose contract runs out next summer, and I still think we will in the future. But the rumours of Pochettino wanting Gazzaniga make sense, he may not be the most experienced goalkeeper. But he’s played in the premier league before, whilst also playing for Gillingham and Rayo Vallecano in between. The Argentine who is an excellent kicker of the ball, is still a young and improving goalkeeper and if Pochettino wants us to sign him, then so do I.

Highly rated youth team goalkeepers Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin both 18, are expected to be given squad numbers for this season. Though the talented pair are for now still probably too young and inexperienced to fill in for Lloris and Vorm. Though Gazzaniga wouldn’t be and that’s why I’d like him at Spurs, he may not play many games if any over the coming season, a bit like Alex Manninger’s spell with Liverpool last season. Pochettino could well link up with his fellow countryman who he managed at Southampton, its certainly an interesting transfer rumour that will divide opinion, but I welcome the idea of the Argentine joining Spurs. Some thoughts on Spurs’ 3-0 defeat to Man City:

Some thoughts on Spurs’ 3-0 defeat to Man City:

IMG_3124.JPG

“We’ve had a tough week of training hard, but the quality has to be better and we all know that. That’s why you play in pre-season. We don’t think ‘it’s pre-season, we don’t care’ – we do care. We now have two weeks to improve ourselves, to get to the level we were at last season and become even better. You don’t want to lose, of course, but we will learn and improve.” (Toby Alderweireld)

Last night saw Spurs play the final game of their US tour to fellow English club Manchester City, it was not the way Pochettino’s side would have wanted to end their tour, with the lilywhites being thrashed 3-1 by Pep Guardiola’s team. In a game which was dominated by the sky blues from the start, Spurs struggled to establish their authority on the game despite the fact that Pochettino had fielded such a strong starting 11. We came up against a city side who looked as if they were entering the middle of their season, they were sharp, intense and pacy and that was what really caught us out last night. Man City should have won by a greater goal margin, with John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Brahim Diaz getting their goals. Despite Spurs almost taking the lead through Dele Alli on two minutes, it was one traffic for the remainder of the game. City taking the lead through centre half John Stones inside 10 minutes, before going on to squander a whole host of chances. They exposed the lack of pace in our side, with former Spurs man Kyle Walker causing a lot of problems for Davies down the right. Guardiola’s side were fast and fluid, they passed the ball around so well and so quickly that we seemed to struggle to stop the fast attacking play of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.

Man City’s other two goals were as the result of perfectly timed attacking runs which caught us out throughout the game. There were positives in the game, the performances of Vincent Janssen, Kyle Walker-Peters and Tashan Oakley-Boothe all good. Spurs were poor last night, but it really doesn’t worry me in the slightest, to their credit Man City were superb whilst we seemed tired/lethargic. I think the friendly against Juventus next Saturday will be a far more telling and important game as we look to adapt to playing at Wembley ahead of the new season. In youth related news, it was a memorable weekend for Wayne Burnett’s side who won the European under 21 tournament in France. Burnett’s side beat teams such a as PSG and FC Lorient en route to the final where they met Belgian side Standard Liege, with the game ending 2-2 courtesy of goals from Shayon Harrison and Shilow Tracey. Spurs won the game 5-4 on penalties with goalkeeper Jonathan De Bie making the winning save. It was a brilliant achievement from the talented squad, Spurs’ winger turned wingback Keanan Bennetts also won the player of the tournament for his performances. There was a poignant and touching tribute to Ugo Ehiogu by head coach Wayne Burnett after the game: “Justin Cochrane (Under-23 Assistant Coach) and I have been with them for the last month or so, but they’ve had a really excellent development programme before we got here, so a special mention should go to those two because they’ve been a big part of these players’ development, for sure. Everyone was mindful of that, we had a minute’s silence in memory of Ugo before the game and I think it’s fitting – the players will have been thinking of him, so it’s a nice moment to lift the trophy.”

Finally I noticed that former Spurs academy goalkeeper Tom McDermott (19) has found a new club following his departure in the summer. The goalkeeper who we signed from Warrenpoint in 2014, has joined League of Ireland club Derry City. McDermott is the second Spurs player to join Derry in recent seasons along with Aaron Mceneff who joined in 2015. COYS

Spurs play their final game of their USA tour later tonight as Pochettino’s side go head to head with familiar opposition, Premier league side Manchester City. The game which takes place in Nashville Tennessee (kick off-11pm) will bring to an end a tour for Spurs, which has seen them record a 4-2 victory over PSG and a 3-2 loss to Roma. It’s our last game which will excite Spurs fans more than previous two, with this evenings game seeing Spurs go up against Pep Guardiola’s Man City side who have been very active in this summers transfer window, with the addition of former Spurs man Kyle Walker one of many new players to make the move to Manchester. Tonight’s match will provide Pochettino’s team with a great pre season test against a side who they’ll be coming up against in the league campaign over the next season. After the undeserved defeat to Roma in the last game, Pochettino will likely rotate his side for tonight’s match, and there’s a couple of players who I’m really hoping to see on the team sheet. Academy player Anthony Georgiou made a really positive debut against Roma in midweek, the energy and persistence he showed down the left wing should hopefully warrant him with a start against Man City. Midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe who has already featured as a substitute in both previous Spurs games has also impressed, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start. Whilst this game will provide a real challenge for Pochettino’s young side, I’m sure his players will be relishing the opportunity to go up against one of the most talented sides in Europe. COYS

My predicted lineup: (3-4-2-1) Whiteman, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Wimmer, Trippier, Dembele, Oakley-Boothe, Davies, Eriksen, Alli, Kane.

My score prediction: 2-2 courtesy of goals from Kane and Alli.

One to watch: Kyle Walker was a Spurs player less than a month ago, the talented right back needs no introducing ahead of us facing him just a few weeks after his £50 million pound transfer to the sky blues.

An ode to Harry Kane:

An ode to Harry Kane:

“His attitude, work-rate…he deserves everything he’s got and that’s one of the biggest compliments I can pay. He was focused and knew what he wanted and went about getting there with hard work.” (Clive Allen)

IMG_3099.JPG

On the day that Harry Kane turns 24, I thought it appropriate that I write an ode to the Spurs great himself. Whilst he’s breakthrough season with Spurs was only just a couple of seasons ago, Kane has made such a great impression on the premier league, that he is already considered to be one of England’s most talented young strikers in a generation. It’s almost impossible to imagine Spurs without their talisman Kane leading the line. The remarkable rise of the Londoner who has risen through the youth levels at Spurs’ academy, has developed into one of the most complete and prolific strikers in the game. Under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino he has gone on to claim the premier league golden boot for the past two seasons, even managing to score a sensational 29 league goals last term, even more remarkable is the feat if you take into consideration the fact that he missed three months of the season through injury. Kane who started out at bitter rivals Arsenal, joined our youth academy back in 2004, Kane’s journey through Spurs’ academy has seen the versatile striker play a wide range of roles, including playing as a winger and even as a holding midfielder. A prolific scorer at under 18 level, Kane seized his chance under Pochettino back in 2014 at a time when Spurs were struggling to find the back of the net.

IMG_3063

Pochettino has built one of the greatest Spurs teams in recent memory around the England international, he’s ability to score all types of goals, Kane’s excellent work rate and willingness to get back and defend is what makes him one of the greatest strikers in the game. Kane’s far more similar to former Spurs great Bobby Smith, then he is to any other modern striker, such is Kane’s old fashioned style of play that I’m convinced he would have flourished in that great Spurs team of 1960-61. He may be no sporting maverick with a panache about his game, but he is determined and hungry to score goals which he does so very well, and that’s what makes him so great a player. The strikers remarkable goal scoring record for the lilywhites, and his astonishing statistics have gone on to win him wide spread admiration and respect off so many in the game. At every Spurs game you’ll hear the Spurs fans bellow, “Harry Kane he’s one of our own”. It’s no wonder why us Spurs fans sing that with such pride, it’s because he plays for the fans, with Tottenham Hotspur running through his veins. He may only be turning 24, but Kane is in the eyes of so many, already a Spurs legend for what he has achieved. He has mastered the role of a centre forward, managing to score every type of goal from excellent headers and powerful long shots, to poaching goals inside the six yard box. Harry Kane is the pride of Tottenham, and the best bit of his story so far, is that it is yet to come. COYS

The fixtures for the new PL2 season have been announced, with Wayne Burnett’s under 23 side finding out their fixtures for the coming campaign. Spurs start their season with a long trek up to the north east to face Sunderland in County Durham on Friday 11th August. There are 22 games in total for Spurs who will also be competing in this seasons Checkatrade trophy. Some interesting fixtures include a visit to face Arsenal at the Emirates stadium on the 12th March, a visit to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on the 29th January and a home match against the same club at the Lamex stadium on the 25th August. Our home games will be played at both Stevenage’s Lamex stadium and our Hotspur way training ground, whilst there will be no matches held at our temporary home Wembley stadium for the coming campaign. I will be trying my utmost to report on all Spurs matches, though it can prove very tricky with all games being subject to change at fairly short notice. It’s an exciting season for Burnett’s side, and I’m very hopeful ahead of what will prove to be a fascinating season for the young lilywhites. The full list of fixtures is published below:

The squad which is listed below is the same side that faced Cambridge United last week, with absentees including Nick Tsaroulla, George Marsh, Marcus Edwards and Cy Goddard. Expected captain of the under 21 team Luke Amos had the following words to say about the tournament- “We’ve spoken about it a lot, about what we need to do to win, and that’s the focus. It’s always good to play against different styles and there will be some older players there, players that have played men’s football, so that will be a good chance to test ourselves and pick up new things as well.”
