There are few things more satisfying for a Spurs fan than seeing your team show resilience, class and composure to see off one of Europes finest sides. Pochettino’s side done exactly that on Wednesday night as Spurs put the ‘Wembley curse’ to the pages of history, to defeat German club Borussia Dortmund 3-1 at the national stadium, in a result which will prove so, so important to our season in many different ways. On the back of a deeply pleasing victory over Everton at the weekend, Pochettino’s side came up against a multi talented Dortmund side who played some breathtaking attacking football during the game, but it was the tactical masterclass of Spurs boss Pochettino that swayed the game into our favour. With the visitors unable to maintain their high pressing game, Spurs played their finest football at the national stadium to date, to see off the Bundesliga club in style, with an assured 3-1 victory. Rather than writing a piece on the game itself, I thought I’d write a quick piece on a particular players performance during the game. The performance of Toby Alderweireld may not has been as noticeable as that of the superb Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen, but for me the Belgian centre half was magical during Wednesday nights game. Alderweireld marshalled our defence, with his impeccable timing and play. No one could deny his passion and commitment throughout the game. Time after time he made crucial tackles that helped relieve the pressure for Spurs.

Whilst all players played as a team I could not help focusing on Toby as he instilled the confidence and self belief throughout the whole game. Alderweirld showed the skill and determination that will be needed for us to be truly successful at Wembley this season. Come on Real Madrid.

Tottenham’s stunning 3-0 victory over Everton on Saturday was exactly the kind of result and performance that could kick start Mauricio Pochettino’s sides season, at such a crucial early stage. On Wednesday night Spurs kick off their UEFA champions league campaign at home to German giants Borussia Dortmund at our interim home, Wembley stadium. A stadium for which has seen Spurs lose two of their previous three champions league games since last season. Our group contains the best team in the world and current holders of the competition Real Madrid, as well as Dortmund and Cypriot side APOEl Nicosia. This means Spurs must get off to a win when these two teams go head to head on Wednesday night, this will see the lilywhites under pressure to perform ahead of Wednesday’s glamour tie, incredibly tough away trips in the group will also prove difficult for Pochettino’s side. Hence the importance for our players to put their Wembley woes behind them with victory over the Bundesliga club. Spurs’ dominant and impressive free flowing victory over the toffees at the weekend will surely be a confidence booster. Die Borussen who drew their Bundesliga game away to Freiburg over the weekend, are renowned for their footballing pedigree and technical ability. A fact which Spurs fans know all too well following our previous schooling from the German club in the Europa league a couple of seasons back.

Peter Bosz’s side are still one of the strongest sides in Europe despite the many key outgoings that have occurred over the past few seasons. The former European cup winners boast an array of quality attacking talent, who with their speed and skill could tear us apart on the large Wembley pitch. Despite all their superb attacking players like winger Christian Pulisic and striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, I’m quietly optimistic about Wednesday’s game. We have the better defence and are arguably the better structured of the two sides, and if we can contain Bosz’s side and produce a similar performance to the one that we saw on Saturday, then we have every chance of securing maximum points. Whilst Dortmund are without injured players such as Marco Reus and Marc Bartra for the Spurs game, they still have some of the finest players in European football. A plethora of attacking talent is at the oppositions disposal, lighting fast striker Aubameyang, as well as the potent Pulisic down the flank are enough to give Pochettino nightmares going into this game. Whilst, they also have creative maestro and World Cup winner Mario Gotze in their midfield. It may sound absurd, but our lads have every chance of winning this extremely difficult group, when the team click we can beat any side on the planet, I’m just hoping that we can do that tomorrow for what proves to be a mouth watering game. COYS

My predicted lineup: (3-4-2-1) Lloris(C), Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Aurier, Dier, Dembele, Davies, Son, Eriksen, Kane.

My score prediction: 2-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Eriksen and Kane.

One to watch: Dortmunds prolific and pacy striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is one of the finest and most respected forwards in the game. The Gabon international scored an excellent goal against us the last time we met.

Premier league action returns for Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side on Saturday afternoon, when the lilywhites make the trip up to Merseyside to face Everton at Goodison park. The toffees home ground has become a bit of a bogey ground for Spurs over recent years, with Spurs only winning twice their in the last 10 years. It’s certainly been a mixed start to the season for the lads, on the back of a challenging start to life at Wembley Spurs have got four points on the board from their first three games. Whilst the opposition who have spent heavily over the summer following the departure of star man Romelu Lukaku, have also got four points on the board. Ronald Koeman is building something special at Everton, as they look to build on last seasons seventh placed finish, he’s brought in 14 players including talents such as Wayne Rooney and former Spurs man Gylfi Siggurdson. But the Dutchman is also bringing through a lot of young English talent, much like our own manager Mauricio Pochettino. The toffees who have very strong home form, are likely to prove a very tough away test for our players, the blues had the fourth best home form in the league last season. Whilst it’s unknown whether new Spurs signings Serge Aurier, Juan Foyth and Fernando Llorente could debut, I’m expecting a slightly altered side to the one that drew to Burnley at Wembley, I have a feeling Pochettino will want to inject pace in to the game, so I’m guessing Moussa Sissoko will start down the right.

Everton are a well structured side with a mean defence, their new recruits Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurrdson’s creativity are likely to be their main attacking threat. You never know what can happen after an international break but I’m quite optimistic for Saturdays game, but most importantly of all we cannot lose! COYS

Spurs absentees: Lamela, Rose, Nkoudou, Wanyama.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris(c), Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Sissoko, Alli, Eriksen, Kane.

My predicted score line: 3-1 to Spurs courtesy of a hat trick from Harry Kane!

One to watch: The toffees tireless defensive midfielder, Idrissa Gueye. The Senegalese international is such an integral part of Ronald Koeman’s side.

Fernando Llorente: A much welcome alternative

Fernando Llorente: A much welcome alternative

IMG_3372.JPG

“I’m 32-years-old but I want to learn every day and I think I can learn a lot of things from Harry and the other players. I can learn a lot from Mauricio Pochettino and I will do my best here.”(Fernando Llorente)

I’d be lying if I were say I wasn’t surprised with our deadline day acquisition from Swansea, of 32 year old Spanish striker Fernando Llorente. It was certainly an unexpected move from Spurs to bring in the vastly experienced and highly talented striker who enjoyed a fine season with Swansea last term. Llorente was one of five players to make the move to our club over the summer, in what I believe was a good and productive window for Spurs. The arrival of Llorente on deadline day for an undisclosed fee was even more impressive when you consider the fact that our rivals Chelsea put in a reportedly bigger bid for the Spaniard, though the striker chose Pochettino’s side as his preference. A player who Spurs have continuously been linked with for many years, Llorente was at one time one of the most sought after strikers in the game during his golden years at Athletic Bilbao. The 32 year old who started of his career with La Liga club Athletic Bilbao, enjoyed a fine debut season in the premier league with relegation stricken Swansea last campaign. Llorente scored some pivotal goals to help keep the swans up, the Spanish international managed to find the net on 15 occasions in the league. Seven of them came as a result of a header, a trait for which Llorente is renowned for.

This is a very smart signing from Pochettino, we’ve now got an experienced and proven goalscorer who Spurs can rotate with their talisman, Harry Kane. The signing of the former Juventus and Athletic Bilbao man provides Spurs with a plan B in front of goal. Whilst it is unknown what the longterm future holds for Spurs’ other senior striker Vincent Janssen (23) with the Netherlands international today being omitted from Spurs’ UEFA Champions league squad, the Dutchman who was close to joining Brighton on deadline day, will surely go further down the pecking order. Following Llorente’s switch from the swans. Nicknamed El Rey León (the lion) Llorente operates as a target man upfront, with his physicality and movement in the box making him a highly potent player, but it’s his heading which is Llorente’s greatest attribute. You’ll do well to find a better header of a football then Fernando, he has scored a phenomenal amount of headers throughout his career. Llorente’s a very intelligent player, a player whose experience of winning multiple honours and performing at the highest level, can only add to our squad which is already so rich in quality.

Llorente’s strength and power brings with it a lot of tactical possibilities available for Mauricio Pochettino, the World Cup winner could be brought on late in games in search of a goal if we were going to play the long ball game. Whilst he can also come on and do the opposite (hold the ball up) if we’re winning in the late stages of a game. Llorente could also, potentially link up well with Alli, the Spaniard who is renowned for his link up play, means we could maybe see a Van Der Vaart and Crouch like relationship on the field, but to a much greater degree. I and many other Spurs fans are excited at the arrival of Fernando Llorente, and I for one cannot wait to see him put on the lilywhite shirt of Tottenham Hotspur. COYS

IMG_3263

Date: Sunday 27th August, kick off: 16:00pm
Venue: Wembley stadium
Head2Heads: 2-1 Spurs, 2-0.

With a two week international break approaching, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side will be desperate to put their Wembley woes behind them, when they face Burnley this afternoon. Our lads face Sean Dyche’s defence minded Burnley side on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea last Sunday. We may only be three games into the league campaign but getting a victory over Burnley this afternoon is of the utmost importance, and in doing so Spurs can build the confidence they so desperately need at the national stadium. The visitors cannot be undermined ahead of today’s clash, their a well structured and rigid outfit, who despite operating on a small budget. Have mustered together a really good side. Pochettino’s side will have to be wary of the threat posed by target man Sam Vokes and Burnley’s record signing Chris Wood who could make his full debut. However, there is one big positive to take into today’s game and that’s that Burnley only managed to win one away game last season, lets hope our home advantage counts! COYS

Spurs absentees: Danny Rose, Erik Lamela, Nkoudou.

Burnley absentees: Jon Walters, Dean Marney.

Burnley doubts: Jeff Hendrick.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris (C), Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane.

My score prediction: 2-0 to Spurs courtesy of a brace from Harry Kane!

One to watch: A player I know well, Irish winger Robbie Brady will provide a real threat down the wing. The former Man United man’s excellent crossing and searing pace, will be of bother for our lads.

Some thoughts on our defeat to Chelsea:

Some thoughts on our defeat to Chelsea:

IMG_3263.JPG

As I walked down Wembley walk way, for our first home game of the season (at our interim ground) I had high hopes that we’d put our poor record at the national stadium behind us, with a victory over league champions and bitter rivals Chelsea this afternoon. Despite our 68% ball possession, and our domination of the game which saw us (in my opinion) look the better side for the most part. It just wasn’t to be our day, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side succumbed to a Marcos Alonso brace in what was a cruel 2-1 defeat for our lads. It was always pivotal to start our first game at Wembley off with a positive result, so as to boost our confidence, and the performance from the team was anything but negative, it was just a bitterly disappointing result for the fans to stomach after having been the better team for the majority of the game. It was a great atmosphere in the ground, the Spurs supporters waiving their flags buoyantly as the players took to the field, with last Sunday’s victory over Newcastle still fresh in the mind. The blues may have lacked in creativity for periods of the game, but they gave us a real fright early on. When an unmarked Morata from with in the box, nodded wide Azpilicueta’s cross inside the first few minutes of the game, to the surprise of all who expected him to put Chelsea ahead. That was one of few times Chelsea really threatened inside the first half, (barring their goal) as our lads attacked the blues defence persistently. Our 13 attempts on goal justifying our dominance inside the first 45, we looked confident in our play as we looked to break down a strong Chelsea back three. There was shades of our FA cup semifinal defeat to them back in April, about their first goal of the game. As full back Marcos Alonso gave them the lead out of nothing. As the Spanish international curled a brilliant free kick on the edge of the Spurs box, into the top corner of Lloris’s net leaving our captain helpless.

Our new look side which saw three in the midfield, reacted very well to Chelsea’s opener. The lilywhites continued to dominate possession, creating a host of fine chances including one for Kane, who fired against the inside of Courtois’s post, going into the interval the Spurs players were left pondering how despite all their possession and attacking quality, had they found themselves a goal down! Our luck didn’t improve in the second half, we continued creating chances, notably Eriksen’s fine effort on goal shortly after the restart. But it was that decisiveness in front of goal which was just giving the visitors the edge. What we really craved was pace, our side desperately lacked in it. Had we have had someone with pace who could beat a couple of players down the flank (like Wilfred Zaha) I think it would have been a completely different scoreline, especially with the vast space of the Wembley pitch. I’m really hoping we sign that type of player before the window closes, though I also would like to see pace be injected down the flanks via that of promising academy wingers Anthony Georgiou and Keanan Bennetts. As Pochettino’s side went desperately in search of the equaliser, there were warning signs from Conte’s men when Willian fired an effort against the post on 74 minutes.

Then just as the game was nearing an end, a huge slice of luck drew us level. Chelsea substitute Michy Batshuayi heading the ball in to his own net from Eriksen’s free kick, sending the Spurs fans into delirium. Playing Chelsea at Wembley in recent years has rarely ended well, and just five minutes after Spurs’ equaliser, the west London club stunned the Spurs fans with a cruel late winner. It was that man again Marcos Alonso who fired past Lloris down the left, to put a sad end to our first home game of the season in a game which so easily could have gone the other way. A bitterly disappointing result for the lads, this quote from captain Hugo Lloris epitomises the game perfectly: “I’m very disappointed with the result, obviously, but in terms of the performance, what else can we do? It was a great performance.” Chelsea were very good in areas, though I still think we looked the better side, the magnificence of David Luiz in the midfield and the excellence of Alonso down the left ensured a disappointing introduction to life at Wembley. There’s plenty of positives and encouragement to take from today’s game, and I’m already looking forward to our encounter with Burnley next Sunday. COYS

Kyle Walker-Peters: One of our own

Kyle Walker-Peters: One of our own

IMG_3212.JPG

It’s quite a surreal feeling to see an academy player step out in to the first team, after having seen them develop through the Spurs youth ranks. That’s how it felt yesterday when I tuned in to watch our season opener against Newcastle United, where Mauricio Pochettino made the brave call to hand 20 year old right back Kyle Walker-Peters his debut in the place of the injured Kieran Trippier. Long a favourite of mine, I’ve followed the one time strikers progress from under 18 level to the cusp of the first team squad. The 20 year old who some will remember played during Ledley King’s testimonial at the Lane, was a player who I always thought would make his senior debut sooner than he did. The promising right back who has excelled at both under 18 and under 21/23 level over the past couple of seasons, is yet another Spurs prodigy that Pochettino has given a debut to. I was never in any doubt that Kyle would rise to the occasion against Newcastle, he’s a real grafter, a youngster of immense ability. Walker-Peters left Spurs supporters reeling with his performance at right back, confident and assured. The Spurs man was heavily involved in the game, he got stuck in and made some good challenges. He adapted well to the mould of our game, he was pacy, alert and by no means out of place. Spurs kicked off the new season in style with a crucial 2-0 victory over Newcastle at St James park (Dele and Davies with the goals) and the youngster who grew up close to white hart lane, played an integral part in that victory.

A fast and agile right back with tremendous close ball control, the full back has now made his first big step into the Spurs team. After years of excellent and consistent performances down the right flank, the 20 year old who was awarded the man of the match for his performance on Sunday. Is entering a hugely exciting part of his Spurs career, and after yesterday’s superb performance, I’m backing him to go on to make many more appearances for the lilywhites this season, starting with Chelsea at Wembley next Sunday. Walker-Peters who was a part of England’s under 20 world Cup triumph over the summer, is an exceptional talent and I am so very delighted for him on making his dream debut for Spurs. Whilst a lot of credit should go to Pochettino for integrating him into the first team fold, it’s important not to forget the big impact that the late Ugo Ehiogu has played in his development as a player. I think it’s fair to say this certainly won’t be the last time Spurs fans hear the name Walker-Peters mentioned this season. COYS

The new premier league season is upon us, Spurs play their first game of the new season away to newly promoted Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon. As Mauricio Pochettino’s side look to start the new season where they left off at the end of our last excellent campaign, which saw us finish in second place. Spurs fans need no reminding of the last time we met the magpies, the final day of the 2015/16 season was one of the most infamous days in Spurs’ recent history. Nailed on to finish in second place above arch rivals Arsenal, we were stunned by the already relegated Magpies losing 5-1. Need I explain anymore, as Spurs go in search of revenge with them needing no added motivation ahead of tomorrows season opener, up in the north east. After an eventful week which included a surprising interview involving Danny Rose, transfer rumours and the likes are irrelevant come Sunday afternoon. Pochettino’s side face an important and tough season opener against the toon army, but despite injury worries he’ll undoubtedly be confident that we can start the season off with three points. I personally feel as if we’ll start the season in the same way we left the last with, our attacking flair and formidable front line hopefully powering us to victory. COYS

The opposition: The magpies play their first game in the premier league since their relegation in 2016. Rafael Benitez’s side which isn’t massively altered from the side that won the championship in 2016/17, will be a tough first game in front of an intimidating and raucous crowd. Their main goal-threat Dwight Gayle who was their top scorer last season could start up top, but potentially the biggest threat could come from pacy and tricky Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu down the left wing.

Team news: Kieran Trippier is out inured, so Pochettino has a bit of a dilemma at right back. Does he play the experienced and versatile Dier or Sissoko, or does he give talented 20 year old right back Kyle Walker-Peters his first taste of premier league football. Whoever he decides to chose, will have to deal with the lightning quick pace of former Chelsea man Christian Atsu down the left flank. Danny Rose and Erik Lamela remain sidelined through injury, whilst Nkoudou misses out with a foot injury picked up during pre season. Though there is good news regarding Son and Wanyma, who are both in contention to make the match day squad.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris (C), Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Winks, Sissoko, Alli, Eriksen, Kane.

My predicted scoreline: 3-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Alli, Kane and Eriksen.

One to watch: Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, a fine midfielder with a great vision for a pass.

Spurs 2-0 Juventus: (match report)

Spurs 2-0 Juventus: (match report)

“A lot of their players played in the Champions League Final last season and we dominated from the start, pressed high, got that early goal and controlled the game from there. It was a great performance and one that will give us a lot of confidence going forward into the new season.” (Harry Kane)

IMG_3151.JPG

Spurs rounded off their preseason with a superb display over Italian side Juventus on Saturday evening. As Mauricio Pochettino’s players put in a commendable performance, outplaying one of Europes finest sides under the Wembley arch. We were on great form, our lads were sharp and fluid as a great team performance saw us comfortably see off last seasons champions league finalists in a game, which we controlled from the offing. Desperate to adapt to our new home for the current season it was imperative that we got a result to boost our confidence. After a fairly uneventful opening 10 minutes, Pochettino’s lads opened the scoring after a wonderfully worked teaam goal which started from the back. After a couple of well exchanged passes the ball came to Mousa Sissoko who picked out Trippier down the right wing. Trippier delivering a peach of a cross into the box which was met by Kane, who powered an excellent header past Gianluigi Buffon, to put us one up. Juventus replied with a couple of decent efforts, first from Paulo Dybala who created space before lashing over, and then through Higuain who forced a fine save from Lloris from the following corner. We remained in control of the game and our constant pressing of the visitors saw us almost double our lead on the half hour mark. Stephan Lichtensteiner’s pass back to Buffon was won by the on rushing Kane after Buffon’s bad first touch, Kane tried to get the ball past the Italian international. But Chiellini was their to make a perfectly timed sliding challenge.

IMG_3154.JPG

We continued to attack and just minutes later we came desperately close to doubling our lead, courtesy of an excellent solo effort by Sissoko, after receiving a pass by Alli
Sissoko ran the length of the Juventus half before cutting inside on his right and curling an effort, which so unfortunately hit the inside of Buffon’s post before going away from danger. An excellent effort from the powerful and pacy winger who put in one of his best shifts in a Spurs shirt yesterday. A worrying injury sustained by Trippier on the stroke of half time put a dampener on what had been a very good first half display. We started the second half with the same confidence and quality that we had left the first in. And just minutes in we doubled our lead through the potent Christian Eriksen. The Dane made a perfectly time run into the box as he latched on to Alli’s through ball, before calmly taking the ball past Buffon and tapping home into the empty net. Kane almost made it three shortly afterwards when his move with Eriksen ended with him firing an effort at goal which was tipped wide, courtesy of a vital touch from Buffon.

Juventus were eager to get a way back into the game, Dybala sending Douglas Costa’s cross narrowly wide before testing Lloris with a fine effort. Dybala cut inside on the edge of the area before curling an effort in the direction of the far post which was expertly stopped by Lloris. The introduction of young Italian starlet Moise Kean provided a boost for the visitors, shortly after being introduced the forward received a delightful pass in the area, but the youngster could only manage to hit his effort against the crossbar, much to the relief of Lloris. Former Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado threatened our clean sheet five minutes from time. The Colombian embarked on a surging run down the right before powering an effort at goal, which was spectacularly denied by Lloris. The final score in Spurs final preseason game, Spurs 2-0 Juventus. A highly impressive performance at our new temporary home, to give us a big confidence boost ahead of our first league game away to Newcastle United next Sunday. COYS

IMG_3155.JPG

My man of the match: Christian Erisken. Utterly superb performance from the Danish international who has been without doubt our best player of preseason. He dazzled behind Kane, his movement, passing and goal were of real quality.

Player reviews: – Hugo Lloris: Top performance from the captain, made a string of top saves.
– Kieran Trippier: Was superb at right back (assisted opener) before being worryingly forced off through injury late on in the first half.
– Toby Alderweireld: Typically flawless and efficient defensive display from Alderweireld helped us record a clean sheet.
– Jan Vertonghen: Made some really good runs out of defence, whilst also making a big contribution to our clean sheet.
– Ben Davies: Solid and assured performance at left back.
– Eric Dier: Efficient and tidy.
– Mousa Dembele: Dominant midfield performance from the Belgian, made a real impression on the game.
– Moussa Sissoko: His best performance in a Spurs shirt by some distance. Sissoko was superb against Juventus, powerful, pacy and involved. The Frenchman was really sharp, playing a big part in the first goal, Sissoko was also desperately unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself.
– Dele: Assisted Eriksen’s goal with a well timed pass, Alli was a real creative threat throughout the game.
– Christian Erisken: My man of the match, Erisken continued his excellent pre season with another top display, he was the creative spark behind an excellent team display. He also took his goal really well.
– Harry Kane: On top of his game. Our talisman lead the line perfectly well, scored a fine header and was unlucky not to have scored more.
– Kyle Walker-Peters: Replaced the injured Kieran Trippier late on in the first half and the 20 year old looked right at home in the side. Solid and assured performance at right back.
– Harry Winks: The substitute put in a good shift in the midfield.
– Anthony Georgiou: Pochettino gave the young winger he’s second game in a Spurs shirt and he seized his opportunity yet again. He was hungry for the ball down the left wing, he was non stop both offensively and defensively, he just wanted to run past the Juventus defenders. I could see Georgiou being used as an impact sub over the coming season, he could become a very useful player.

Spurs (4-2-3-1): Lloris (c), Trippier (Walker-Peters 41), Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele (Wimmer 90), Sissoko (Georgiou 65), Dele (Winks 65), Eriksen (Oakley-Boothe 90), Kane (Janssen 78). Substitutes (not used): Vorm, Whiteman, Carter-Vickers, Dinzeyi, Miller.

Juventus (4-2-3-1): Buffon (c, Pinsoglio 76), Lichtsteiner (De Sciglio 46), Rugani (Barzagli 60), Chiellini (Benatia 60) Alex Sandro (Asamoah 46), Khedira (Bentancur 75), Pjanic (Marchisio 46), Douglas Costa (Bernardeschi 60), Dybala, Mandzukic (Cuadrado 46), Higuain (Kean 75). With little more then a week before Spurs kick off the 2017/18 season away to Newcastle United, there’s no better final pre season game then the one that will be taking place tomorrow. When Pochettino’s Spurs side host Italian Serie A holders and champions league finalists Juventus at the national stadium. Saturday evenings game will be the last match that Spurs will play before the season begins, with the Spurs players and fans alike hoping for a good result to get them going ahead of next Sunday’s season opener. When this glamour tie was announced last month it had certainly whet the appetite of Spurs fans, with the prospect of facing Italian giants Juventus a great way to round off our pre season campaign. It also provides Spurs fans with the opportunity to watch some of the finest players in the game, with Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Gianluigi Buffon just some of the world class players the Italian club have on their books. Whilst new signing (elegant winger) Fernando Bernadeschi will be sure to test our wing backs. I’m also hoping to get to see young Juventus and Italian youth international Moise Kean in action. The 17 year old forward is one of the biggest prospects in Italian football. It would be great for us to get a good result against Juventus tomorrow, but I’m just looking forward to seeing how we play against this phenomenal team and potential champions league opposition. The premier league seasons just a little over a week away, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how we play in our final pre season game. COYS

Team news: Erik Lamela, Son and Danny Rose will all miss out through injury, though Frenchman Moussa Sissoko who missed Spurs’ tour of the USA with a virus, is expected to return to action tomorrow, whilst Victor Wanyama will return after missing the last game with a knee injury. Another player who won’t be featuring tomorrow is young midfielder Josh Onomah who has today been signed on a season long loan by championship side Aston Villa. It will be interesting to see which youngsters Pochettino selects for the game with our squad already quiet thin this season, I’d expect Pochettino to give a fair few of our academy starlets game time against Juventus. The one most Spurs fans will be excited about seeing is young Marcus Edwards (18) who recently signed a new contract with the lilywhites. The dazzling forward missed out on our tour to the USA due to his involvement in England under 19’s successful Euro campaign over the summer. I’m also hoping that Kyle Walker-Peters will get a good run out at right back tomorrow, ahead of what I’m hoping will be a breakthrough season for the 20 year old. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see wingers Samuel Shashoua and Will Miller be a part of tomorrows match day squad.

My predicted lineup: (3-4-2-1) Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Wimmer, Trippier, Winks, Dembele, Davies, Alli, Eriksen, Janssen.

My score prediction: 2-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Janssen and Kane.

One to watch: The incredible Paulo Dybala, with his mesmeric skill, balance and goal scoring ability. The forward is a rising star within the game, the Argentinian international was a star of Juventus champions league campaign last season.
