Spurs under 16’s 8-1 MK Dons: Our under 16’s won earlier in spectacular fashion as they thrashed MK Dons 8-1 in the under 16 league. Reo rivaldo Griffiths as pictured below scored 4 goals and assisted 2 in the victory, Tashan Oakley Boothe scored one as did an unnamed trialist and an own goal from a Dons player. However I am unable to report on the other two scorers as I was unable to find out who they were.

Spurs 1-0 Watford:

We hosted Watford in what was an extremely blustery affair as the wind proved pivotal in deciding the outlay of the match, as long balls became a normality, with the away side using them to uproot us in our quest for victory.
The game itself had an added incentive after Manchester City fell to a three one defeat at the hands of table toppers Leicester in the early kick off, which meant a win for the lilywhites this afternoon would send us to second in the league table. The first half started with Spurs playing quick and crisp attacking football against a highly structured and defensively minded Watford side. The hornets limited are chances in the opening stages of the game as they heavily congested the midfield in order to thwart our creativity in the middle of the park. However, Mousa Dembele was immense as a deep lying midfielder, making some key interceptions and forward driving runs, as his sheer strength overwhelmed the Watford midfield. Another key performer in the opening stages was Kieran Trippier as he was impeccable both in defending and attacking as he searched out Harry Kane with his pin point crosses. Our biggest chance of the first half came on the half hour mark as Ben Davies reached a fine pass and surged forward in to the box as he hit his effort with some venom as it was deflected narrowly wide of the left post. A few minutes afterwards Davies found himself again in a good position after a golden touch to bring down the ball in the same position in the box his attempt was however clasped by former Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes. Shortly before the end of the first half Harry Kane came close after he was superbly picked out by Eric Dier’s wonderful cross in, although Kane was unable to keep his volley in the box down, the scoreline remained 0-0 at the break.

The second half brought with it a revised approach for Spurs and we started it with a sparkle as the chances came in, Trippier was again continuing his promising runs up the right flank and feeding in inviting crosses. And it was Tripper who broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, the recent introduction of Dele Alli brought with it a new edge to the game and the 19 year old assisted Trippier.Alli sprinted down the left wing after some superb midfield work by Dembele, Alli took the ball with great skill and picked out the unmarked Trippier who he assisted with a delightful outside of the boot pass from the edge of the byline and Trippier hammered home with the instinctive technique of a striker, 1-0 Spurs. We continued to improve after taking the lead and we were unfortunate not to have doubled our lead after Son’s close range effort was saved in style by Gomes. The pressure didn’t stop as every Spurs player played sublimely in their respective positions, the defence was magnificent and Trippier was undoubtedly the man of the match. In addition the central defensive partnership of Wimmer and Alderweireld proved as effective as a brick wall as the inform Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney didn’t have a sniff of a chance.

The atmosphere was fantastic from the fans as it spurred the players on to a special win. That win moves us up to second 5 points adrift of the leaders Leicester, it sounds surreal but feels fantastic. Every, Spurs fan is in awe of our play our tenacity and most importantly of the excellence of Mauricio Pochettino, who is providing the platform for winners a squad full of talent and a future so bright one must not dare envisage the success that can come with it as the brightness can overwhelm you. We played arguably one of our greatest performances of the season it could have been 3 or 4 nil but it doesn’t matter as the lads were performing out of their skin, and have put the doubters to bed. Spurs are title contenders and no one can argue with
that now, 6 wins on the trot. COYS⚽️

3 Spurs academy players in Algarve cup:

image.jpeg

England under 17’s drew 1-1 against Portugal under 17’s in the opening match of the Algarve tournament. Three of our under 18’s played in the match Japhet Tanganga and Jaden Brown started in defence whilst Samuel Shashoua also started, in an attacking midfield position. Shashoua was vital in England earning the draw as he netted the equaliser for the three lions in the 46th minute. A very bright start for the talented Spurs trio their next match is against Germany under 17’s on Sunday afternoon. For more information on the match, check out the FA’s link below.

Head2heads: Last three matches against Watford: 2-1 Spurs, 1-0 Spurs, 2-1 Spurs.

Live coverage: Not being broadcasted in the uk, live updates provide on the @Spursofficial Twitter feed.

Preview: We go into this match on the back of five straight wins and we face Watford at the lane this Saturday. The hornets are a very well structured side and have hugely impressed in the Premier league this season under the leadership of Quique Sánchez Flores. The newly promoted side have well surpassed the expectation of avoiding relegation and sit comfortably in 9th position in the league table. The formidable striking partnership of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney have netted 20 times in the league between them this season, and our defence will have a massive job on their hands trying to keep the two of them at bay in what will be a huge test for the lads. Consistency is key and Spurs have been in excellent form of late with Kane firing on all four cylinders and the rest of the side having performed exceptionally of late. We are certainly very capable of defeating the hornets on Saturday in what shall be an intriguing battle.COYS⚽️

Team news: Ryan Mason is likely to be on the bench as he is back fit again after recovering from a lengthy injury. Meanwhile, Dele Alli will undergo scans next week in the hope of solving what caused his dizziness against Norwich in midweek, but he is still likely to feature on Saturday. However, Jan Vertonghen and Clinton Njie remain injured. In regards to the starting eleven the two fullbacks could be rotated with Davies and Trippier looking to come back into the team. Whilst Lamela could replace Son on the right wing.

My prediction: 2-1 Spurs with goals from Lamela and Kane.image.jpeg

Formidable striking duo Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo are the ones to watch this Saturday afternoon.

Spurs 3 Norwich 0:

Spurs 3 Norwich 0:

Match review:
This evenings result was absolutely phenomenal, the team put in and outstanding
performance in every aspect of the game and the great bonus of Arsenal drawing 0-0 to Southampton adds to the incredible delight, we have now moved to 3rd position in the league table! In addition we have now won five on the trot.

The deadlock was broken in less than two minutes as Christian Eriksen’s effort was palmed away by Declan Rudd right in to path of Dele Alli and the nimble footed teenager perfectly despatched his effort, he pounced and made no mistake as he fired us into an early lead on a chilly winters night at Carrow road. Our high intensity didn’t drop in the aftermath of our early lead and our ultimate power on the field provided Norwich with a whole host of defensive problems. Eighteen minutes in and another great chance presented itself for Spurs, Kane surged towards the byline and cleverly pulled the ball back to Son who flicked a fine effort against the outside of the post. Over ten minutes had gone since that glorious opportunity to double our lead had taken place, but yet another great opportunity presented itself a Dele Alli shot thwarted by Rudd resulted with Kane being fouled by former Spurs man Bassong on the follow up, and the referee awarded the penalty. Kane stepped up and rolled the ball into the back of the net, as cool as you like, 2-0 Spurs.

Our domination and dictation of play was overwhelming the faltering canaries and two minutes after the goal Kane powered a brilliant effort against the post, a millimetre away from making it three for the lillywhites. And before the first half came to a close, our creativity provided us with a couple of fabulous chances most notably of which came to Dele Alli after a precise cross from Danny Rose found him after his run was executed with perfection, Alli’s header went a whisker wide of the post, 2-0 to Spurs at the interval. The second half had barely started when Norwich attacked us looking for a way back in to the match, Matt Jarvis crossed as Naismith headed a fraction wide of the goal. Two minutes after the Scotsman’s effort Norwich had the ball in the back of the net Bassong had headed the ball in to the goal but it was ruled offside. The long period that followed was a sequence of fine passing from Spurs, the excellent holding of possession was exhibited by the team, as we established ourselves expertly on the stage with the hope of tiring the out of form Norwich. Our defensive partnership of Alderweireld and Wimmer was of the highest quality with both performing outstandingly in the heart of our defence. Our best player of the match Harry Kane unleashed a powerful effort against the post on 82 minutes with his shot rebounding away from danger. However, the England international got a deserved second and wrapped up a three nil win for us in the 90th minute. Some poor defending gifted Kane with a one on one opportunity with Rudd and Kane expertly tucked the ball in to the back of the net, the final score Spurs 3 Norwich 0.

The genius Mauricio Pochettino masterminds another exceptional win making it five wins on the bounce and our exceptional tenacity and our rapidly improving philosophy has every Tottenham fan foaming at the mouth.Something extraordinary is in the making at this football club, has a modern day Bill Nicholson arrived? Dare I guess But Pochettino has us all dreaming of those glory, glory days. COYS

Match preview: Our form of late has showed just how vast our talent with in the squad is, as Mauricio Pochettino is able to rotate a successful side, we’ve won 4 on the bounce now. However the Canaries stand in our way of making it 5 in a row. A couple of players will return to action following being rested against colchester on Saturday, most notably Dele Alli who will return for this evening’s game. Every game is imperative at this stage of the season and beating Norwich tonight is paramount to us strengthening our place in the top four. However the canaries have shown that they’ve got goals in them as they exhibited in their 5-4 defeat against Liverpool recently. Their attack tonight will provide a threat to our defence, Mbokani,Naismith and Redmond have 12 goals combined in the league this season and new signing Patrick Bamford will be looking to open his account tonight. The pace of Robbie Brady on the left flank will see Kyle Walker likely return at right back, the Canaries manager Alex Neil has Norwich playing fast attacking football which can carve open the defence if executed correctly. Norwich showed at White Hart Lane in December just how dangerous they are on the break but we were able to overcome their technique and ran out comfortable 3-0 winners on the day. We’ll being looking to replicate that scoreline tonight although it will be a challenge with Norwich fighting for their Premier League status and desperate not to get beat, were up against it but we’re also very capable of getting those 3 points tonight and the players will be raring to go. COYS⚽️

One to watch: Dieumurci Mbokani

Injured players: Vertonghen (knee),Clinton (knee), Ryan mason back in full training but unlikely to be risked this evening.

My score prediction: 3-1 Spurs with goals scored by Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Heung Min-Son.

Danny Blanchflower and the cup final:

Danny Blanchflower the captain and the genius:
“The game is about glory. It’s about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

The date is the 5th of May 1962, the second consecutive year that Danny Blanchflower lead us out at Wembley. This time to face Burnley one of the greatest teams of the 1960s. This final was a game with the tactical tempo of a board game being played with great caution and patience, it was dubbed the chessboard final, but it was our final and the trophy had our name on it. The team sheet included some of our greatest players of all time the likes of Blanchflower,Greaves,Mackay and John White to name but a few of this exceptional pool of players, included in the squad was the key full back Peter Baker who sadly passed away earlier this week. Baker who grew up just down the road in Southgate was a pivotal member of the 1960/61 double winning side and our 1961/62 triumphs.

The final started with us taking the lead as Jimmy Greaves gave us an early lead, the score remained 1-0 at the end of the first half, due to the fantastic goalkeeping of the two Scottish goalkeepers Bill Brown of Spurs and Adam Blacklaw of Burnley. Shortly after the marching band took to the field at the interval, Burnley drew level! The 100th goal scored in an FA Cup final. However Burnley were not going to push us out of the game, as Bobby Smith was found expertly by John White as the Yorkshireman hammered home to restore our 1-0 lead. And our quality shined through with the leadership of Danny Blanchflower and we had the chance to win the final after a burnley hand ball gifted Danny the chance to win it from the spot. The man from Belfast brilliantly dispatched the penalty and the cup yet again was ours! Danny and the lads carved our name in to the history books.

Spurs 4 Colchester United 1:

Match report: This afternoon saw us complete a triumphant 4-1 victory on a sunny winters day at the Colchester community stadium over Colchester United, to seal our place in the fifth round of the FA cup. The match started with a most unpleasant incident as Colchester’s young defender Alex Wynter was involved in a horrific collision with fellow defender Eastman, however he is alright and conscious in hospital as BBC sport have confirmed. After the injury we bombarded Colchester with a couple of fine efforts playing fast and attacking football and we were desperately unlucky not to find ourselves ahead after Lamela’s spectacular curling effort from outside the box hit the outside of the left post, after some clever foot work from the Argentinian international And a few minutes later Kieran Trippier made a surging run on the right wing before putting a beautiful ball in to the box which Harry Kane headed forcing a fine save from the Colchester goalkeeper Kean.

Half way through the first half Harry Kane found Eriksen who sprinted in to the penalty area before narrowly putting his effort over the bar. Although the deadlock was not to last, as in the 27th minute Lamela’s pass was gratefully received by Nacer Chadli who hit a powerful right-footed shot from 20 yards out that nestled perfectly in to the top corner of the net 1-0 Spurs, and we didn’t drop our attacking intensity as Trippier continued to put inch perfect crosses in to the box but it was to stay 1-0 as Michael Oliver sounded the whistle for the end of the first half.

image.jpeg

Within the early stages of the second half we lacked the togetherness and were a little sloppy in our play, with colchester having some good chances but it wasn’t for long as we looked determined to grab a second, as Nacer Chadli demonstrated perfectly after he received a pass from Kane and turned expertly in front of the keeper but hit his shot off the cross bar as he was unbalanced whilst taking the shot. Moments after Chadli’s effort we doubled our lead after Eric Dier drove a long range strike towards the Colchester goal as it flew into the back of the net courtesy of a heavy deflection off a Colchester player. We were dominating the game, dictating the tempo and most importantly winning comfortably, but still Colchester did not succumb to our superiority with in the park and front man Marvin sordell found himself one on one with Vorm before jabbing a shot narrowly wide clipping the post as it ran across the turf. However we put the game to bed minutes afterwards as Kieran Trippier who arguably played his greatest game in a spurs shirt, sent in a wonderfully accurate cross that Nacer Chadli headed in to score his second of the game.

A mere two minutes later Colchester got themselves a consolation goal after Massey’s effort came off the post rebounding off the feet of the unfortunate Ben Davies who scored an own goal to make it 3-1. Yet in this fast moving game of football we grabbed another goal two minutes after conceding, Chadli all but confirmed he’s status as man of the match by assisting Tom Carroll who scored in the box as his effort went in off the underside of the bar to put his tally to 3 goals in all competitions this season and to wrap up another convincing victory for Spurs. Our name is already in the hat for tomorrow’s 5th round draw, it finished here 4-1 to us in a sun drenched Essex this afternoon,COYS.

Preview:We go into this cup tie in a buoyant mood, with us winning 3 on the trot, the morale is high within the squad, and on the terraces the fans are singer louder than ever with joy. We make the short journey to Essex with a cluster of players expected not to be involved due to our Premier league tie on Tuesday against Norwich, however Pochettino’s selection shall most probably be a strong and youthful 11 that will get the job done. Colchester are near the bottom of league 1 and their form hasn’t been good of recent, however they will be no pushovers and they have some good players in their squad. Marvin Sordell for one, scored against us for Burnley in the Fa cup last season, in addition they also have the talented former West Ham youth player George Moncur who is also one to watch out for in the centre of the park. Although our quality should shine through and provide us with a comfortable victory over the League1 side, yet this is the FA cup after all.

Meanwhile; Jan Vertonghen, Ryan Mason, Alex Pritchard and Clinton Njie are all out injured.

My predicted line up:

My score prediction: 5-0 Spurs with goals from Carrollx2,Chadlix2 and Son.
