Venue: White Hart Lane
Date: Saturday 27th August 12:30pm
Live: Sky Sports 1
Head2Heads: 1-1, 0-0, 3-2 Liverpool, 3-0 Liverpool, 4-0 Liverpool.
Referee: Bobby Madley

Tomorrow afternoon we face Liverpool at the lane in our third league game of the season, as we face a Liverpool side who we have had a poor record against over the past few seasons, having failed to beat the reds in our last seven meetings. However, Pochettino’s side will fancy their chances against Jurgen Klopp’s somewhat unpredictable side who were beaten by Burnley last Saturday at turf moor. The reds attack will cause our defence problems throughout tomorrow’s game with new signing Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge and forward Roberto Firmino all expected to play and pose a real threat up front. However, Liverpool’s influential forward Phillipe Coutinho is a doubt as to is Emre Can and Divock Origi. Tomorrows game is certainly hard to call, but we will have to start well as a team and get an early goal if we are to cement our authority on the game and cause Klopp’s side problems throughout. Mousa Dembele and Hugo Lloris are our only two absentees ahead of tomorrow’s big game at the lane, and I am confident that we can put our recent bad form against the Reds to rest with a win tomorrow. COYS⚽️

My predicted team news: (4-2-3-1) Vorm, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Wanyama, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen, Kane.

My predicted score: 3-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Harry Kane x2 and Vincent Janssen.

One to watch: The pacy Sadio Mane who will pose a threat to our defence tomorrow.

Will Miller joins Burton Albion on loan until January:

image.jpeg

It has just been announced that our young attacking midfielder Will Miller has joined championship side Burton Albion on loan until January. The talented Miller is a skilful  player who I believe has the potential to make it at Spurs, Miller made his first team debut for Pochettino’s side in Melbourne this summer and impressed at the unfamiliar position of left back against Italian champions Juventus. I recently saw Miller play for our under 23’s against Everton and Miller had a really good game, sat behind me that night was Burton Albions manager Nigel Clough. I wish Will a very successful loan spell with the Brewers.

Nabil Bentaleb joins Schalke on a season long loan ahead of a possible £17m deal:

image.jpeg

Within the last hour Spurs have announced the departure of midfielder Nabil Bentaleb who has joined Schalke 04 on a season long loan ahead of a potential £17 million pounds permanent move to the Bundesliga club. It’s sad to see Nabil leave Spurs as he had really impressed following his promotion from the academy in 2013 however, last season Bentaleb barely featured for Pochettino’s side and fell down the pecking order. The Algerian international is undoubtedly a talented player who made many excellent performances for Spurs netting one goal for the Lillywhites. The 21 year old has a big future in the game and I wish Nabil all the very best at his new club.

Earlier today Paris Maghoma and Jamie Bowden of our under 16’s side played against Romania under 16’s in a game in which the young lions won 3-1. These two talented players are ones to look out for over the coming seasons, I was extremely impressed with them when I saw them at the Spurs under 15’s showcase match at Ipswich last season.

DeAndre Yedlin signs for Newcastle United:

DeAndre Yedlin signs for Newcastle United:

Earlier today it was announced that our 23 year old right back DeAndre Yedlin had joined Newcastle United in a deal worth five million pounds. The right back who made only one appearance for the Lillywhites since joining from Seattle sounders in the summer of 2014, spent last season on loan at Sunderland in which he impressed throughout the campaign. However, with so much competition for places at right back it’s probably the best move for Yedlin’s future development in the game. Yedlin joins Newcastle on a five year contract, I wish DeAndre all the very best at his new club.

Spurs draw Gillingham in the third round of the EFL trophy:

image.jpeg

We have drawn Gillingham FC in the third round of the EFL trophy, we will play the Gills at White Hart Lane on the week commencing the 19th September. It will be a special occasion for former Spurs player Justin Edinburgh who will return to White Hart Lane as the Kent clubs manager, Edinburgh will undoubtedly be thrilled with the draw as he still has a strong connection to the club. I am personally very happy with this draw and look forward to us playing the Gills which will be a special occasion under the lights at the lane. We have only played Gillingham on one occasion and that came in the league cup third round at priestfield on the nineth of November 1982, we defeated Gillingham 4-2 on the night, with both Steve Archibald and Garth Crooks scoring a brace.

Spurs youngster Elliot Thorpe involved for Wales under 17’s in their 2-2 draw against Hungary:

Spurs youngster Elliot Thorpe who plays for our under 16’s side, was involved for Wales under 17’s in their match against Hungary earlier today as they drew 2-2 in a friendly in Newport. Elliot Thorpe started the game and was unlucky not to score after having hit the post, the attacking midfielder could feature again for the dragons on Thursday as they face Hungary for a second time at the Newport stadium.

Spurs under 23’s defeat Reading 4-1 in Premier league 2 match:

marc

This afternoon our under 23 side defeated Reading 4-1 at Hogwood park as they got their first victory of the Premier league 2 season, in a game in which Ugo Ehiogu’s side were highly impressive throughout. The young Lillywhites took the lead shortly after the half hour mark through 17 year old Marcus Edwards, after the forward received a pass from Oduwa on the edge of the box before turning away from his marker and firing an accurate shot into the top corner of the net. Shortly after the interval Edwards scored his second of the game, after the skillful forward cut in from the right before hitting the back of the net from 20 yards with a fine left footed strike. A minute later we got our third goal of the game through attacking midfielder Will Miller who rifled the ball past Jonathan Bond and into the top corner with a first time strike, after the forward was found by the resulting cross from Oduwa. Ehiogu’s side put the game out of reach from the royals a couple of minutes later as striker Shayon Harrison got our fourth of the game after the alert forward latched on Dominic Hyam’s pass to the goalkeeper before tackling Bond and putting the ball into the back of the net. Reading pulled a goal back later on through Andy Rinomhota but it wasn’t to matter as Ugo Ehiogu’s side won 4-1 in what was an extremely impressive performance from the under 23’s. Yesterday our under 16’s side defeated West Ham United under 16’s 4-1 at the Hammers little Heath training ground. The under 16’s continued their impressive start to the season after last Saturday’s opening day victory against Southampton, yesterday’s goals were scored by Rayan Clarke who netted two, whilst Anis Mehmeti scored one as well as Maurizio Pochettino who is Mauricio’s son, our under 16’s sides talented pool of players just goes to show how talented our academy is at all age groups.
