Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane: All five of Spurs’s England players played the full match as the three lions defeated Turkey 2-1 in an international friendly at the Etihad stadium. Danny Rose was awarded the England man of the match by Vauxhall after the left back put in yet another outstanding display at full back. Kyle Walker had a fine match on the opposite flank with the Spurs player making an exceptional block early on, Walker also impressed throughout. Eric Dier provided the England side with a solid and composed presence deep in midfield as he looked impressive throughout in the centre of the park. Whilst Dele Alii marked his comeback from suspension by providing an assist for Spurs striker Harry Kane in a game where both team mates were very good on the field. Alli’s movement and skill on the pitch provided plenty of problems for Turkey, where as Kane was also extremely potent in attack and the golden boot winner converted an early chance created by Alli. However, Kane was denied a brace in the second half, after the Englishman missed a penalty. Overall a fantastic night for the Spurs lads in the English jersey England face Australia in a friendly next Friday at the stadium of light.

A spectacular and unpredictable season: ( Spurs 2015/16)

A spectacular and unpredictable season: (Spurs 2015/16)

image.jpeg

Spurs 2015/16:
Premier league: 3rd position 70 points
FA cup: Fifth round
League cup: Third round
Europa league: Round of 16
Top goalscorer: Harry Kane-28 goals

We only needed a point last Sunday to secure second spot, as we took on Newcastle at St James’ Park. However, Pochettino’s men went off the boil and were stunned by the Toon as they thrashed us 5-1, meaning yet another St Totteringham’s day for all involved with Spurs. However, we did finish in a highly impressive third place wich was our highest finish in many years and Mauricio Pochettino’s lads in doing so have qualified for the group stages of next seasons UEFA champions league, a feat which at the start of season was barely imaginable from fans, journalists and pundits. No one can deny that what Pochettino and his players have achieved over the course of the season, was a spectacular achievement. The Argentine manager implemented the perfect style of play to suit Spurs’s game, he once again made the players a remarkably fit side, and most importantly he got us winning big matches and with a great flourish. Although, undoubtedly some will be left wondering how we didn’t catch Leicester in February and how we didn’t take our chance in one of the most open title races in a generation.

image.jpeg

However, the vast majority of Spurs fans are extremely proud of what their club has achieved and they know Pochettino’s plan will become brighter and greater as the seasons progress. Let’s not forget, we played some remarkable matches this season, they done the double over Manchester city, they thrashed Manchester United, Stoke and West Ham, and remained unbeaten against arch rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in the league. We also finished the league campaign with the fewest goals conceded which was a remarkable achievement considering our poor defensive record the previous season. However, in my eyes one of the greatest things I saw this season were the exceptional team performances from our players and it didn’t go unnoticed, as Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose were all named in the PFA team of the season. Harry Kane also finished the season as the top scorer in the league and the Spurs star attained the golden boot for his triumphs. Furthermore, all of our players showed pride, quality, hard work and an unquestionable passion for the club in which they play for.

Ultimately and imperatively, we must forget of the disappointing blip at the end of the season and we should instead remind ourselves of the glorious football that has been shown this season from our club. Our wonderful and youthful side will continue to grow next season and in doing so will become an even greater force to reckon with, both domestically and in European competition. The new season cannot come quickly enough for myself, for I believe it will be a great and memorable occasion! Thank you Spurs for a fantastically memorable season and we’ll see you again next season! COYS⚽️

Come mid afternoon tomorrow we’ll hopefully have defeated Southampton and in doing so have secured a remarkable second place finish. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will have their work cut out if they are to defeat a tough Southampton side who are vying for a Europa league place, but with our lads fresh and hungry from their intense match with Chelsea last Monday, we as fans can only be confident as our second place club have not lost to the saints in over a decade. As it is potentially the last full attendance match at White Hart Lane the club are urging all to help create a great atmosphere to show appreciation to our players for their exceptional season. Furthermore, the club are also urging fans to wear white and bring Spurs flags. COYS⚽️

Team news: Mousa Dembélé will miss tomorrow’s match after being handed a six game ban for an incident involving Diego Costa at Stamford bridge last Monday. Dele Alli will also miss out as he is also serving a ban whilst Nabil Bentaleb is out injured. Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld have been passed fit after both were brought off injured last Monday.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Mason, Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Kane.

My predicted score line: 3-0 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Kane x2 and Eriksen.

One to watch: Southampton’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mané who has scored 10 league goals and got 7 assists in the current campaign.

Spurs 2-2 Chelsea: (match report)

Spurs 2-2 Chelsea: (match report)

Our title hopes were ended in dramatic fashion last night as Spurs drew two all against arch rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It was a game that saw passion, pride and utter emotion from Pochettino’s men as regardless of the result they made each and every Spurs fan so proud of what the club have achieved this season. However, our draw against the blues confirmed that Leicester city were champions of the Barclays premier league. The game included much controversy as tempers boiled throughout and Spurs subsequently received 9 yellow cards, that were all picked up by different players which is the first time that has occurred since the premier leagues inception in 1992, this remarkable statistic indicates how heated and passionate a derby it was. The game started with a great intensity from both sides as both were well set up and looking to pounce on one another’s errors. Danny Rose went close eleven minutes in after the full back let fly from 25 metres out, Rose’s effort flew narrowly wide of the angle. Cesc Fàbregas went the closest for the blues shortly after 25 minutes, after the spaniard shot narrowly wide after receiving a pass on the edge of the box, Fàbregas hit a low effort which went agonisingly wide of the left post.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men took the lead less than ten minutes later with a beautifully worked goal, after Érik Lamela showcased his great vision after the Argentine played through Harry Kane who one on one, calmly jinked past Begović in the Chelsea net before slotting the ball in to the back of the net. Lamela almost scored five minutes later after the winger ran into to the box, Lamela hit a fine effort on goal after receiving a well measured cross from Kyle Walker. However, Gary Cahill made a vital block to deny Lamela from doubling our lead. However, it wasn’t to matter for Spurs as less than five minutes after Lamela’s opportunity Spurs doubled their lead through Son Heung-min. The South Korean international latched on to Eriksen’s through ball before firing the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net. The Lillywhites almost made the perfect start to the second half as on 54 minutes Son came desperately close to getting Spurs’s third, after he curled an effort narrowly wide of the left post from the edge of the box. The blues pulled one back a few minutes later after an unmarked Gary Cahill fired the ball beyond the helpless Lloris, as he saw his effort nestle into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

(Son pictured below doubling Tottenhams lead in the first half)

With less than 15 minutes remaining the newly introduced Ryan Mason almost made the headlines after the 24 year old received a pass just outside the area before side footing an effort towards the centre of the goal, which Begović saved well. Our title hopes dissipated on the 83rd minute through Eden Hazard, after the Belgian who was assisted by Diego Costa, curled a wonderfully accurate effort into the top right hand corner of the net. The Spurs players were visibly devastated at the full time whistle and so too were the fans, some unpleasant skirmishes occurred down the tunnel at the end between the Spurs players and staff and the Chelsea players and staff. However, we must remain upbeat for the Southampton match as we look to round off a magnificent season by finishing in second position. Let’s roar on the players for next weeks match against the saints, so we can show our appreciation for has been one of the best league campaigns in Tottenham Hotspur’s history. COYS⚽️

Tottenham Hotspur’s title hopes took a great blow last night as they drew one all against the baggies at White Hart Lane, in what was an extremely frustrating night for all involved with the club. Leicester now lead at the top by seven points with just three games remaining, the foxes could clinch the league title this Sunday with victory over Manchester United. The game started well for Spurs as Christian Eriksen forced a fine save out of Boaz Myhill on six minutes, after his free kick from just outside the area was thwarted wide from the Welshman as Eriksen’s precise effort was heading for the bottom left hand corner of the net. Spurs went close again three minutes later this time via Harry Kane who after being played through in the box by Alli, struck a low effort which was superbly tipped onto the post by the alert Myhill. Eriksen again came desperately close to opening the lead for Spurs, as 14 minutes in the Denmark international hit an excellent curling free kick which struck the top of the bar, Myhill was helpless in the West Brom net. However, shortly after the half hour mark Pochettino’s men took the lead after Christian Eriksen whipped a delicious free kick in to the area which made contact with the unfortunate Craig Dawson who put the ball beyond Myhill and into his own net.

image

The second half started positively for the Lillywhites as they continued to attack against a well structured West Brom defence. Shortly before the hour mark Erik Lamela almost doubled Spurs’s lead after the Argentinian received a cross from Eriksen which Lamela hit first time, his fine effort came off the bottom of the right post before being cleared away by a west brom player. With less than 20 minutes remaining on the clock West Brom went the closet they had come all night after Salomón Rondón fired an effort at goal from within the six yard box. However the Venezuelans effort was superbly tipped over the bar by Lloris however, the baggies equalised from the resulting corner after Craig Dawson planted his header into the back of the net after rising high in the box. The match finished disappointingly as the final score was one-one, it was a hugely frustrating point for the lads in a game in which we controlled from the offing but just couldn’t put to sleep as the baggies persistence and defensive game play halted our lads in the final third. Christian Eriksen was my man of the match as he consistently created chances and the Dane came close to scoring on two occasions last night. It’s Chelsea up next for Mauricio Pochettino’s men who will be itching to play the blues next Monday night at Stamford bridge as we look to maintain second place with three imperative matches remaining, as our tenacious players look to end the season by finishing in our highest position of the premier league era. Spurs will be looking for another win against West Brom this Monday night as they entertain the West Midlands side at White Hart Lane, Mauricio Pochettino’s side cannot afford anything other than the three points. As the Argentine’s side look to narrow the distance between themselves and Leicester city with only four league games remaining for both sides. Tony Pulis’s side are without a league win in five games, and despite being comfortably placed with 40 points in 15th position, the baggies will undoubtedly be looking to cause an upset as they look to end the season on their highest overall points tally in premier league history. Spurs know all to well how tough Monday night will be after they only managed a draw against West Brom in the reverse fixture this season, as Pulis’s men battled to the last and showed great resilience and tenacity to get the point against the high flying Lillywhites. However last Monday’s demolition of Stoke showcased how great we are as a side and with eleven men at the top of their game and a top class manager in the dugout, Monday night should be another win recorded for Pochettino’s stars.

Team news: The same eleven that started last weeks thrashing against Stoke, are likely to start again on Monday evening and Pochettino will have an almost full squad to choose from with the exception of the injured Nabil Bentaleb.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen, Kane.

My predicted scoreline: 5-0 Spurs courtesy of goals from Kane x2, Dembele, Eriksen and Nacer Chadli.

One to watch: West Brom’s target man and top scorer in the premier league this season with seven goals and three assists, José Salomón Rondón.
