Hugo Lloris ruled out of action for four weeks:

image.jpeg

It has just been announced by the club that our captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been ruled out of action for four weeks, after the France international picked up a hamstring injury at Everton on the opening day, which forced our captain off in the first half. Michel Vorm will replace Lloris with the Dutchman set to be in goal against Crystal palace this Saturday whilst young keeper Luke McGee is expected to be on the bench. I wish Hugo a speedy recovery.

This afternoon Spurs put in an exceptional performance in their final pre season match before the start of the season, with Pochettino’s side defeating Italian side Inter Milan 6-1. Spurs took the lead just five minutes in after a penalty was awarded following a foul on Kyle Walker in the penalty area, Harry Kane sent a thumping shot past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to the Lillywhites. However, Roberto Mancini’s side equalised on 24 minutes through Ivan Perisic, after the Croatian was picked out by Banega on the left wing before darting past Walker and firing inside Vorm’s near post to make it one all. Shortly before half time Mauricio Pochettino’s side regained the lead after Erik Lamela scored an absolutely sensational goal. The Argentine was picked out by Kane and with space Lamela curled a wonderful shot into the top hand corner of the net from 25 yards out leaving Handanovic helpless. We started the second half just as well as we had started the first and we were rewarded seven minutes in through Dele Alli who got Spurs’s third of the game. Dele Alli played a quick one two with Janssen in the box before tucking the ball with great precision and pace in to the bottom right hand corner of the net.

A mere five minutes later Harry Kane grabbed his second of the game to make it 4-1 to Spurs, Kane was found by Lamela before shifting the ball onto his right foot from just inside the area before hitting a wonderfully powerful finish which flew in to the back of the net. Janssen got his first goal for Spurs soon after, after the highly impressive Dutchman was played through in the area by Alli who had danced his way past Inter’s defence and a composed Janssen hit an accurate finish to make it five for Spurs. Our final goal of the game came through 19 year old Shayon Harrison who got his first goal for Spurs, after some great hold up play from Janssen the forward passed to Lamela who crossed in to Harrison from right before the youngster tapped home to make it Spurs 6-1 Inter Milan. We couldn’t have asked for a better performance ahead of next weeks opener against Everton our side was simply exceptional in every aspect, every player was extremely impressive. One thing is for certain we will be a better, stronger and more potent side ahead of the upcoming league season. COYS⚽️

Alex Pritchard signs for Norwich:

Alex Pritchard signs for Norwich:

image.jpeg

It has been announced this morning that our 23 year old winger Alex Pritchard has joined championship side Norwich city on a four year contract for a fee believed to be as much as £8 million pounds. The academy product flourished for both our under 18’s and under 21’s in the past before having successful loans with both Swindon and Brentford as well as Peterborough and West Brom. An extremely talented youngster Pritchard was even rumoured to have been a target for Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid back in 2012. Pritchard who is known for his creativity and trickery is noted for being an exceptional free kick taker, having scored free kicks on numerous occasions throughout his career. Pritchard who made two appearances for the Lillywhites senior side side has had injury problems throughout his career with Spurs and that may well be one of the reasons that Spurs have decided to sell him to the south coast club. I find it sad news that Pritchard was never able to showcase his talents for our senior side and were it not for injuries Pritchard may well have been a key feature in Pochettino’s side. The winger who is from Orsett in Essex, has bags of talent and potential, and Norwich have managed to sign a fantastic player in Pritchard and I am sure that he will flourish for the canaries over the coming seasons, I wish Alex all the very best at his new club.

It is understood that our defender Federico Fazio has joined Serie A side Roma on a season long loan with an option to sign the Argentine for £3.5 million. Roma’s official English Twitter account posted pictures of Fazio arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino airport last night as he held a Roma scarf in front of photographers. I would assume an official announcement from both clubs will be made official later today, it became apparent early on in Fazio’s time at Spurs that he wasn’t able to adapt well to the English league. The former Sevilla captain was ultimately in the wrong league at the wrong time however, I believe he is a class footballer and will showcase he’s defensive qualities at Roma over the coming season. I wish Federico the all very best at his new club.

Spurs reach agreement with Ipswich town for the transfer of midfielder Grant Ward

image.jpeg

This afternoon Spurs confirmed on Twitter that they had reached an agreement with championship club Ipswich town over the transfer of our young midfielder Grant Ward for a fee believed to be around  £500,000. Ward joins Ipswich on a three year deal, I must admit I was quite surprised when I found out that the talented midfielder had departed the Lillywhites as Ward had always been a player who i’d rated highly having seen him play on numerous occasions. However, with so much competition for a place in our midfield for the coming season it seems the thing best for Ward’s future development. The 21 year old who had spent last season on loan with Rotherham will without doubt in my opinion have a successful career with the tractor boys and I wish him all the very best at his new club.

Spurs played their final match of the international champions cup in Australia earlier today as they played out a closely fought match with Spanish club Atletico Madrid, with Mauricio Pochettino’s youthful side narrowly losing to the La Liga side. Regardless of the result many youngsters shined through out the match with both Anton Walkes and Cameron Carter-Vickers having excellent games in central defence, midfielder Harry Winks also impressed in the centre of the park. We had our fair share of chances with Lamela and Onomah amongst those who went desperately close to scoring. Meanwhile Atletico’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak made a string of fine saves to keep Pochettino’s side at bay, the winner for the Spanish side was scored 5 minutes before the interval after Uruguayan defender Diego Godin broke the deadlock. Godin’s goal came about after Gabi sent the ball into the area from a free kick, Gabi’s ball in skimmed off the head of Walkes before coming to Godin who converted from close range. Despite two losses from two matches the tournament has certainly been a success for Spurs, with so many youngsters getting vital senior game time in which will help their development at Spurs for the coming seasons. Spurs 1-2 Juventus: (match report)

Spurs played their first official pre season match of the season this morning, after they narrowly lost 2-1 to Italian champions Juventus in their first match of the international champions cup in Melbourne. A youthful side, Spurs found it hard to contain the Bianconeri in the opening minutes of the game and the Italian sides class showed after they took the lead in the fifth minute through striker Paulo Dybala. The goal came about after young defender Dominic Ball Lost possession near the half way line with Juventus capitalising on his error as they surged forward through Roberto Pereyra who played through Dybala who expertly slotted home from with in side the box. Dybala almost doubled Juventus lead shortly afterwards after the Argentine latched onto a loose ball before volleying at the Spurs net. However, Michel Vorm denied Dybala with a fine save to thwart the strikers effort. Juventus doubled their lead shortly after Dybala’s chance through defender Medhi Benatia who got on the end of a wonderful first time ball in to the box from Pjanic and the Moroccan expertly despatched his header which looped high over the head of Vorm and in to the back of the net. Spurs had a penalty shout on the half hour mark after youngster Will Miller surged in to the box before being brought down by Benatia, Miller was unfortunate not to have been awarded the penalty.

Juventus had the first real chance of the second half in the 53rd minute after the ball came to Miralem Pjanic in the box however, the Bosnian international lashed the ball high over the bar from close range. Soon afterwards a good chance came the Lillywhites way after Janssen played the ball in to Lamela whose shot from 20 yards out was deflected narrowly wide of the right post. However, it was the substitute Lamela who scored for Spurs in the 67th minute after sprinting into the area the Argentine received the ball at his feet and made no mistake as he expertly tucked the ball in to the bottom right hand corner of the net. The goal had a lot to do with Wanyama’s great reading of the game after the Kenyan expertly won the ball in the middle of the park which in doing so helped create the attack. Star man Lamela almost grabbed an equaliser with less than ten minutes remaining of the game, after Shayon Harrison passed to him in the box, Lamela hit a powerful shot straight at Neto who thwarted the ball away from danger. It was almost a dramatic ending to the game for Spurs as deep in stoppage time younger Shayon Harrison went desperately close to taking the game to penalties after Lamela danced his way through the Juventus defence before playing in the young striker whose low range shot was saved well from the cat like reflexes of Neto who got down to deny Harrison a goal on his senior debut.

The final score was 2-1 to the Italian champions and although it was a pre season friendly the lads should be proud of their performance as an extremely young Spurs side were narrowly denied a draw against top class opposition. The exceptionally talented 17 year old Marcus Edwards was highly impressive when he was introduced in the second half as too were the other youngsters that played with Harrison, Miller and Amos having a fine game. Wanyama was excellent with in the midfield as he provided great steel to Spurs’s game however, my man of the match has got to be Erik Lamela whose impact on the second half was top class, with Lamela scoring as well as being an extremely potent forward throughout the second half, the winger looks in great form ahead of next season. Up next for Pochettino’s side is our final game of the international champions cup which is against Spanish side Atletico Madrid on Friday at 11:00am, i shall provide a preview for that match in the coming days. Venue: Melbourne cricket ground
Date Tuesday 27th July 2016 11:00 AM
Live coverage: Sky Sports 1
Head2Heads: N/A
Referee: Ben Williams

This Tuesday Mauricio Pochettino’s side will play their first official pre season match of the season as they face Italian champions Juventus in the first of two games in the international champions cup in Melbourne, with the other match being against Spanish side Atletico Madrid. Tuesday’s match will provide the youngsters that Pochettino has selected with vital experience against top class opposition, whilst senior squad members will use it as a great test to help get them ready for the start of the season which is just 19 days away. However, the Juventus side in which the Lillywhites will face on Tuesday is not their full strength side with notable players like Paul Pogba and Giorgio Chiellini still off after competing at the Euros over the summer, it will however be a stern test and a great experience for Spurs. Christian Eriksen is a doubt through illness and the Danish international missed today’s training session. I will be eager to see the exceptionally talented youngster Marcus Edwards likely to make first team debut on Tuesday and I believe the forward could make a real impact against the Italians. Another youngster is Shayon Harrison who will be hoping to play up front against Juventus. The striker was a star for the under 21’s last season and is another player I’m excited to see tomorrow. New signings Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama will likely play tomorrow with both being eager to impress at their new club. What ever the result tomorrow it doesn’t matter as it will just be a joy to see Spurs in action again. COYS⚽️

One to watch: Juventus extremely talented and skilful Argentine striker, Paulo Dybala who was a prolific scorer in Serie A last season.

Spurs beat Rotherham United  3-1 in behind closed doors friendly at Hotspur way:

This afternoon a spurs side which included both senior and development squad players defeated Rotherham United 3-1, in a behind closed doors friendly at Hotspur way. However, it was the millers that took the lead courtesy of a Danny Miller goal on 17 minutes, after an intelligent finish. Pochettino’s side pulled level on the 59th minute courtesy of Vincent Janssen’s first goal for the lillywhites. Janssen got on the end of Trippier’s low cross before smartly slotting home. Our talented young forward Shayon Harrison put spurs ahead on the 82nd minute after the youngster converted from close range after a good run by spurs starlet Marcus Edwards on the right wing helped create the goal. It was Edwards who confirmed our victory three minutes from time after the youngster done well to win back the ball on the byline, Edwards turned away from the nearest defender, before firing the ball high in to the net from an acute angle. It was an impressive victory for spurs with many of the youngsters impressing throughout, the players that I am aware played are as follows: Tom Glover, Kieran Trippier, Victor Wanyama, Ryan Mason, Nacer Chadli, Marcus Edwards, Shayon Harrison and Vincent Janssen. Up next for Spurs are Juventus in the international champions cup next Tuesday in Australia, some of the youngsters that played today are expected to travel.

Spurs reportedly agree deal to sign winger Georges-Kévin N’Koudou from Marseille:

Spurs reportedly agree deal to sign winger Georges-Kévin N’Koudou from Marseille:

image.jpeg

Facts:
– N’koudou scored 10 goals for Marseille last season.
– Although he was born in Versailles the France under 21 international is also eligible to represent Cameroon.
– The winger previously played for Nantes and French giants PSG.
– N’Koudou is noted for his exceptional pace and acceleration as well as he’s balance on the ball.
– N’Koudou has been scouted by a wide array of European clubs and is highly sought after.

It is believed that Spurs have managed to secure the signing of the highly rated 21 year old winger Georges-Kévin N’Koudou from French club Marseille, for a fee believed to be around £10.8 million pounds. The reports of N’Koudou’s impending signing have come from two very reliable sources France’s L’Équipe and The Guardian newspaper, the French club have given Spurs permission to begin negotiations with N’Koudou over personal terms. The France under 21 intentional who used to play for both Nantes and PSG is expected to travel to London for a medical with in the next 48 hours, with the winger believed to be signing a five year contract with Spurs. I believe this deal will go ahead most probably with in the week and I ultimately believe it will be a very good signing if it is confirmed. N’Koudou is an extremely pacy winger who has great dribbling ability and skill, the Frenchman also is extremely energetic and likes to press opponents which is something Pochettino and Mitchell will have become aware of whilst watching him.

image.jpeg

N’Koudou is just the kind of player that we need ahead of the coming season, we need someone with pace that can surge down the flanks and with N’Koudou we would have that. However, some reports are suggesting that Clinton N’jie could be loaned to Marseille as part of the deal, I don’t believe that this will occur as I believe Pochettino highly values the Cameroonian ahead of next season and the winger can certainly make a big impact once fully fit. The highly rated N’Koudou would be yet another fantastic signing for Spurs and with the signings of Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen already completed Pochettino will be looking to get all of our new signings to gel with plenty of time left ahead of the new season. A couple of videos which show N’Koudou’s skill and talent are included in the links provided below. COYS⚽️
