After an enthralling first leg at the Lane, Where John McDermott’s Spurs side lost 2-1 to Chelsea on Tuesday evening. McDermott’s side go up against Chelsea tomorrow for a second time, as both sides battle it out for a place in the final of the FA Youth cup. Saturday evenings encounter at Stamford Bridge which is live on ITV4, is going to be a fascinating match, despite being dominated by the blues for the majority of the first leg, Spurs’ fight back in the last 20 minutes, showed the sheer quality that our youth academy possesses. Our under 18’s have shown throughout the season, why they are considered one of the finest youth teams in the country, their excellent cup run testament to their talents on the pitch. Tomorrows second leg will be atough task for the Lillywhites. However, having watched this team throughout the season, I have no doubt that we can overcome the one goal deficit in front of us and progress to the final, though there will need to be a sensational performance from the lads if they are to break down this magnificently structured Chelsea side. With the creativity of Shashoua and Roles, and the pace of Griffiths and Bennett’s there are many ways to get the ball up top to the clinical Kazaiah Sterling, our biggest goal threat. Whatever the outcome tomorrow one thing is certain, this team have the done club and supporters proud and the fans will be cheering them on in tomorrows exciting match. It would be an absolutely fantastic occasion if we could defeat our London rivals on their own turf. COYS

Team news: I’m expecting McDermott to rotate his side ahead of tomorrows tie, I’m predicting the inform Jack Roles will come into the midfield for Oliver Skipp, whilst Jaden Brown may get an opportunity at left back. Brandon Austin put in a man of the match performance on Tuesday, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the talented Alfie Whiteman get an opportunity in between the sticks. I reckon Marcus Edwards playing could make the difference between the two sides tomorrow, but the academy prospect is on the fringes of the first team and I would be surprised to see him included in the squad.

My predicted lineup: Whiteman, Eyoma, Tanganga, Dinzeyi, Brown, Marsh, Roles, Griffiths, Shashoua, Bennetts, Sterling.

My predicted score: 2-0 to Spurs.

One to watch: Ike Ugbo, having scored in the first leg the clinical centre forward provides a real threat in front of goal.

Interesting fact: Spurs have lifted the prestigious FA Youth cup trophy on three occasions, in 1970, 1974 and most recently in 1990 that team included goalkeeper Ian Walker who went on to have a successful career with the Lillywhites.

Our under 18’s are involved in their biggest match of the season, when they face Chelsea in the first leg of their FA youth cup semi-final later this evening. This will be the biggest game that this squad of players have ever been involved in, during their careers so far. The FA youth cup is the ultimate prize for youngsters in England, since its inception in 1952 Spurs have got their hands on the prestigious trophy three times, and I really believe that this class of players can go all the way this time round. Spurs have defeated Stevenage, QPR, Norwich and Newcastle on route to the semis, but John McDermott’s side will face their biggest test of the tournament when they face Chelsea at White Hart Lane. Chelsea have won the last three tournaments, and in doing so have shown exactly why they have one of the best youth academies in the world. Some of the blues talented players include, Mason Mount, Trevor Chalobah and Ike Ugbo. Tonight’s match at White Hart Lane which is also live on ITV 4, will be a fantastic tie, and I’m confident that our young stars of the future will put in a memorable display. The FA youth cup means so much to a lot of Spurs fans, and I have great believe in this talented crop of players. COYS⚽️
My predicted lineup: Whiteman, Eyoma, Tanganga, Dinzeyi, Tsaroulla, Marsh, Oakley-Boothe, Shashoua, Roles , Griffiths, Sterling.

My predicted score line: 4-2 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Sterling x2, Shashoua and Griffiths.

One to watch: Chelsea’s creative midfielder Mason Mount.

Spurs under 23’s v Reading: (match preview)

Spurs under 23’s v Reading: (match preview)

img_1909

Spurs under 23′ play Reading this evening in the PL2, as Stevenage’s Lamex stadium hosts Spurs’ development squad for one final time this season. Ugo Ehiogu’s side face the leagues bottom of the table Reading, as they look to ensure their group 1 status. Though only a point above the relegation zone, our development side have put in some impressive performances over the past couple of matches and with three victories in their last four home matches, the Lillywhites will fancy their chances this evening against a struggling royals side. When we played Reading in the reverse fixture back in August, Ehiogu’s side ran out comfortable 4-1 winners. But you just don’t know what teams will play in the PL2 league, for example Reading fielded senior striker Dennis Rakels in their last match at home to Liverpool, and if Reading decide to involve more over 23 year olds this evening, then our sides task will be that bit tougher. I will be at tonight’s match and shall provide a match report for what should be an interesting match. COYS

Team news: Loanees Luke Amos, Ryan Loft and Shayon Harrison are unlikely to feature this evening due to their teams midweek fixtures. However, I would expect Will Miller to be in the squad, with Burton not playing again until the weekend. Meanwhile, I’d be very surprised to see any of under 18’s involved this evening, this due to the fact that the under 18’s play Chelsea tomorrow night at the Lane in the all important FA Youth cup semifinal, first leg. I would also expect to see Pau Lopez and Kyle Walker-Peters involved tonight.
My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lopez, Walker-Peters, Maghoma, Lesniak, Muscatt, Stylianides, Owens, Goddard, Pritchard, Miller, Tracey.

One to watch: Reading’s American strike Andrija Novakovich, and their top scorer in the PL2 with six goals.

My score prediction: 3-2 to Spurs.

Spurs v Millwall: (match preview)

Spurs v Millwall: (match preview)

“For us, it’s not just a game against Millwall, it’s the chance to go to the next round and a semi-final at Wembley. That is a massive aim for us, a massive challenge. We respect Millwall and we must try to give our best to win the game.” (Mauricio Pochettino)

img_2364

On Sunday afternoon Spurs will play their final ever cup match at the Lane, and what a tie it is, Spurs versus Millwall in an FA cup quarter final, a London Derby with great incentive for Pochettino’s side in their quest for the prestigious FA cup trophy. Spurs are just touching distance away from a semifinal at Wembley, standing in between them our fellow London club Millwall. Spurs haven’t faced the league 1 side in well over two decades, with the clubs last meeting coming in a league fixture in the 1989/1990 season, Spurs ran out 1-0 winners on that day courtesy of a winner from Gary Lineker. This time round Spurs are the overwhelming favourites, our incredible home form alone puts us in great stead against Neil Harris’s side. The stakes are huge but I’m very confident ahead of today’s 2:00pm kick off, the gulf in class is massive between the two sides, and if Pochettino’s plays all of his key players I can’t see their being any other outcome than a Spurs victory. However, the lions also come in to today’s game in great form, their unbeaten in 17 matches and their victories over Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester en route to the quarter finals, should not be forgotten. Let’s make our last ever cup match at the Lane, end in a memorable victory. The FA cup is in our DNA, and I really fancy our chances of lifting this most famous of trophies in our final season, at our glorious stadium.

Team news: Danny Rose and Erik Lamela remain Tottenham’s only two absentees ahead of today’s quarter final. I’m predicting Pochettino’ to field our strongest eleven against Milwall, we don’t play till next Sunday and I feel as if it would be too risky to rotate the squad ahead of this hugely important cup tie.
My predicted lineup: Lloris, Alderweireld, Dier, Vertonghen, Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies, Eriksen, Alli, Kane.

My score prediction: 4-0 to Spurs courtesy of a hat trick from a Harry Kane, and a goal from Toby Alderweireld.

One to watch: Former Spurs academy graduate, Jordan Archer. The lions goalkeeper faces a battle to stay fit ahead of Sunday’s match, but I’m really hoping he gets to play in front of his former club. Millwall’s top scorer Lee Gregory, is also another player to watch out for.

This afternoon Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side take on Everton at the Lane in what is yet another crucial match for the Lillywhites. We’re a team in fine form and our home form has been nothing other than exceptional, but the toffees will provide a tough test today, their beginning to flourish under Ronald Koeman and their unbeaten in their last 9 league matches. And with one of the leagues finest strikers in Romelu Lukaku, Spurs will have to bring their A game for today’s encounter if they are to achieve maximum points. A well structured and defensive side, the blues have talent in numbers and I feel as if today’s match will be won in the midfield with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama up against the talented Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye, Im hoping our midfield prowess will pay off. We faced Koeman’s side on the opening day of this season, that match ended in a 1-1 draw and it emphasises the task were up against today, if we can get an earlier goal or two like we done against Stoke, then I believe we would go on to dominate the game, but the longer the game drags on goalless, the tougher the task becomes. Nonetheless I am confident going into today’s game and I’m predicting Dele Alli to be the difference today, we need to win the match but against today’s opposition it’s easier said then done, but at the Lane we’re almost indestructible. COYS

My predicted lineup: Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Wanyama, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Kane.

My predicted scoreline: 3-1 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Dele Alli x2 and Harry Kane.

One to watch: One of the leagues most inform strikers, Romelu Lukaku. The powerful Belgian centre forward is currently the leagues joint top scorer with Harry Kane on 17 goals.

Spurs under 23’s versus Arsenal: (match preview)

img_2383

Our under 23’s are involved in a north London Derby later today, when they face Arsenal in the PL2 at the Gunners Colney training ground. The reverse fixture at Hotspur way saw Arsenal defeat Spurs with a 2-0 victory, but the dismissal of Charlie Owens had a big impact on that game. Ugo Ehiogu’s side who won their last match against Sunderland, have only lost one of their last seven matches in the league but they sit only two points above the relegation zone in seventh place. Today’s match is undoubtedly a massive game for the development side and I’m anticipating a tough match for the youngsters, Arsenal have had a good campaign and boast a talented squad, and their last match against Chelsea saw them field two senior players, in Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck. Interestingly our under 18’s also face Arsenal at their training ground with the game being played this Saturday. I reckon Ehiogu will field an experienced side for today’s match, bearing in mind the under 18’s face Arsenal on Saturday, I predict few of the under 18’s will be played this afternoon with the only exception possibly being Kazaiah Sterling up front. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Pau Lopez start in goal, all loanees won’t be involved today due to the weekend fixtures. COYS

My team prediction: (4-2-3-1) Lopez, Walker-Peters, Maghoma, Lesniak, Muscatt, Stylianides, Owens, Tracey, Pritchard, Georgiou, Sterling.

My score prediction: 2-2

One to watch: Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi who is the gunners top scorer in the PL2 with five goals.

IMG_2479.JPG

The under 18’s FA youth cup adventure continues this evening, when John McDermott’s side face Newcastle united at St James’ park in the quarter finals of England’s most prestigious youth competition. The under 18’s side have been a joy to watch this season and their FA youth cup run has seen them play some beautiful football, with wins over Stevenage, QPR and Norwich seeing them progress to this crucial stage of the competition. However, this evenings game will be one of the biggest games that this crop of players will have been involved in, if McDermott’s side can progress to the semifinals, then they will face Chelsea over two legs. In terms of quality the Lillywhites are the better side, if this were played at the training ground then I believe the lads would run out comfortable winners. But the big difference is that tonight’s match will be played at the 52,000 seater stadium St James’ park, and the iconic stadium could be a quite intimidating experience for the players, with a big crowd expected for this evenings game. Newcastle currently sit in ninth position in the northern section of the under 18 league, but their recent record in the FA Youth cup is one that has to be respected. The magpies have some talented players in their ranks, with striker Lewis Mcnall and Mackenzie Heaney both players to look out for this evening. It would be a fantastic achievement if the lads could win tonight, but regardless of the result this experience will provide a learning curve for McDermott’s side. COYS

One to watch: Newcastle united striker Lewis Mcnall.

Our under 23’s are in action this evening as they host Sunderland at the Lamex stadium in the PL2. Ehiogu’s side who are in the relegation zone face a real possibility of being relegated, with just six league matches remaining Ehiogu’s side will be targeting maximum points from tonight’s match. However, tonight’s opponents will provide a tough test for his side, Sunderland sit sixth in the table five points ahead of Spurs and the last time these two sides met, the scores were two a piece. Following the departure of winger Nathan Oduwa to Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana as well as the departure of several loanees, Spurs’ squad has been quite threadbare. Hence there are a couple of under 18 players training with the under 23 squad ahead of tonight’s match, these include: Kazaiah Sterling, Japhet Tanganga, Nick Tsaroulla and Brandon Austin. Sunderlands side include some talented players, with the likes of Joel Asoro, George Honeyman and Ethan Robson, all players to look out for. I will be at this evenings game and as always I will be writing a match report. COYS

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Glover, Walker-Peters, Maghoma, Tanganga, Tsaroulla, Lesniak, Stylianides, Edwards, Pritchard, Tracey, Sterling.

My predicted score line: 2-2.

One to watch: Swedish under 21 international Joel Asoro, the talented forward has already feature for David Moyes’ senior side during the current campaign.

IMG_2454.JPG

Our FA cup run continues on Sunday when Spurs make the short trip across London, to face Fulham in the fifth round of the FA cup. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have suffered a recent blip of form with back to back defeats to Liverpool and Gent, his side have been off the pace and their 1-0 defeat in Belgium in midweek was a real cause for concern, it’s quite astonishing to think that we’ve only recorded two wins in our last 14 away matches. That poor away record cannot continue tomorrow when we face Fulham at craven cottage, I don’t need to emphasise how important the FA cup is to our club. Pochettino’s record as a manager in cup competitions is pretty poor and I have felt that in recent seasons he hasn’t put out strong enough squads in the FA cup. A prime example of this being our defeat at home to Crystal Palace in round 5 of last years competition, where a number of key players were rested. Many ex players and fans alike will all say that you’ve got to play your best team in the FA cup, but with our second leg tie against Gent in midweek that may not be as easy as it seems. I am quite anxious as a Spurs fan going into Sunday’s match, we’ve lacked our intensity over the last two matches, and with Fulham in good form in the championship this is not a tie we can afford to underestimate. The cottagers have won four of their last five matches and currently sit in eighth position in the Championship, and Slaviša Jokanović’s side have plenty of talented player in their ranks. The likes of Chris Martin, Lucas Piazon and Sone Aluko will all provide goal threats, whilst it’s worth looking out for highly rated 16 year old left back Ryan Sessegnon who has been linked with a move to us over the past year.

It’s essential we start today’s game with an attacking intensity that will unsettle the hosts, and if we can get an early goal then I fancy us to go on and thrash Fulham. After all it is the FA cup and anything can happen, but I’m hopeful that Pochettino’s side will be at their best for this afternoons tie. COYS

Team news: Erik Lamela and Danny Rose remain sidelined through injury, Harry Kane picked up a knock against Gent and may not be risked against Fulham. Meanwhile defender Jan Vertonghen has made great progress from his injury and could well feature at the back. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see youngsters Kyle Walker-Peters and Marcus Edwards feature on the bench, neither traveled to Belgium and both offer an exciting alternative.

An interesting read on Vincent Janssen:

My predicted team: (4-2-3-1) Vorm, Trippier, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies, Winks, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Kane.

My score prediction: 4-1 to Spurs.

One to watch: The extremely talented young left back Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs return to European competition this evening when they face Belgian side K.A.A Gent, in the UEFA Europa league round of 32. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are approaching a critical stage in their season with two cup games in four days, Pochettino has to decide whether he’ll put out a side capable to win silverware, with both the UEFA Europa league and FA cup being competitions that Spurs have a good chance of realistically winning. Spurs’ trip to Belgium comes on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Liverpool in the league, and Pochettino will be wanting to see his side make an instant impact when they face Gent later today. ‘De Buffalos’ will provide a stern opposition and despite the gulf in class, Pochettino will be anxious for his team to get out of the blocks fast against a fine side. Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s side made the last 16 of last seasons UEFA champions league, and currently sit in eight position in the Belgian pro league but Gent have a very good home record and they have only lost three times at the Ghelamco arena, in their last 20 matches. I believe that Pochettino will field a strong side tonight, as he’ll be looking to make a statement and with the return leg at Wembley just a week away, Spurs will hoping to record a convincing away victory to ease some of the pressure off the return leg. I honestly believe we’ll be on form tonight, if Pochettino decides to play the cream of the crop, e.g. Kane, Alli and Eriksen, then I can foresee a comfortable and important victory. We must not underestimate Gent, players such as Moses Simon and Juan Perbet will all pose a threat and we must be on our game from the start. Tonight’s match against Gent and Sunday’s FA cup match against Fulham, are a critical period with in our season. Let’s hope after tonight we’ll be one step closer to the glory us fans so desperately crave. COYS
