Sad news this Tuesday afternoon:

Two main Spurs headlines are dominating the footballing news of the day and they are rather sad for many a Spurs fan. The first bit of news is of the imminent departure of Andros Townsend who confirmed via social media this afternoon that his 16 year stint with the club has ended, in an emotional tweet with a picture of him driving out of Hotspur way for the final time. It has long been known that Andros was likely to depart during this transfer window but nonetheless it does still come as a shock with many a Spurs fan hoping he would once again break into the first team squad. A local lad Andros joined our academy set up aged 8 and developed all the way up the academy ladder at Spurs, I remember first seeing him play in 2009  at Brisbane road, whilst on a months loan at Leyton Orient it was a wet and windy afternoon as Orient played Southampton in league one. Andros then an 18 year old was fearless his confidence was supreme as he sped up and down the left wing his tenacity was clear to see as even on such a poor surface he didn’t give up he wasn’t afraid to shoot his passion of the game was then and still is now of the highest order he loved our club and had some great moments scoring some excellent goals, and contributing a lot to our side over the last couple of seasons. I’ll miss him as he will our club, but it is important for his career to join Newcastle in what is believed to be a £12 million pound transfer, and I thoroughly believe he will become a key player for the magpies. Here’s a toast to the ultimate Spurs professional and a really nice guy 🍻 Andros Hotspur Townsend.

In the second part of this afternoons news, it has been confirmed that Jan Vertonghen has suffered knee ligament damage and could be out for two months as a result of being elbowed by Connor Wickham in our victory over Palace at the weekend, Jan has been key along with Toby this season in keeping an excellent defensive record this season so it is a big blow however our medical team is hopeful that Jan could return sooner. Kevin Wimmer will now be in his place and I strongly believe he will do an excellent job filling in as he showed against Leicester in the cup. Get well soon Jan.

Tottenham u21’s 0- Liverpool u21’s 2.

.Our under 21 side played Liverpool u21’s earlier tonight on a cool winters evening in Chester. And it was the reds who took an early lead, a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, a whipped shot from Ryan Kent deceived Tom glover as the ball slid through Glover ‘s legs at the near post, with those in the box anticipating a cross it came as an unfortunate surprise to Tom.
However the rest of the first half was dull with no clear cut chances, with the exception of a surging run from townsend on the right wing and a neat pass across to Will Miller who spun and shot off balance seeing his effort fly over the bar.

image
The second didn’t start well either, 56 minutes in and Sheyi Ojo
Put a low ball in to the box and Jerome tapped home to put Liverpool 2 up. And fortunes didn’t prove at all as The game progressed, we lacked creativity and didn’t have the strength in midfield to mount an attacking threat against an experienced Liverpool side. Former Spurs man Kevin Stewart was sent of late on but it didn’t make a difference we simply couldn’t break Liverpool down, and are barren form of late continues, although we fielded a significantly younger side to Liverpool’s. The game finished 2-0 to Liverpool, here’s hoping our youngsters can get a decent run of results together in the upcoming u21 games.

Elsewhere Spurs loanee Dominic Ball played the last fifteen minutes of Rangers 2-0 victory over Morton in the Scottish championship.

Connor Ogilvie signs new contract:

It has only just been announced that Connor Ogilvie are young and talented full back has signed a new contract until 2017. Connor has been extremely impressive on loan at Stevenage so far this season and has deservedly been offered a new contract with Spurs. I have seen Connor play on many an occasion over the past few seasons in the youth teams (U21) and I strongly believe he could be a future left back at the Spurs, his only 19 but seems much more experienced, I saw him play for stevenage earlier in the season and he played extremely well, his mature and disciplined defensively has great focus and reads the game extremely well, in addition he also has great offensive qualities, with pace and trickery good crossing ability and an eye for goal. His a fantastic talent at our club and it’s great news that his signed a new contract. COYS⚽️

Memory lane: Ledley King⚽️

Today I shall be revisiting an extraordinary record held by our very own club legend Ledley King.

The date is the 9th of December 2000 a league match against Bradford at Valley parade, the game kicks off 9.9 seconds into the match were ahead Ledley King found the ball at his feet and put his foot through it 1-0 and Ledley entered the premier league record books a spontaneous moment that lasted seconds from Ledley and yet that record still stands and shall most probably stand for the next century unless there is a remarkable piece of skill, a 45 yard screamer that flys in faster than lighting, but the likelihood of such an occurrence is next to nothing yet our club legend Ledley King holds this most remarkable of premier league records.
