Come mid afternoon tomorrow we’ll hopefully have defeated Southampton and in doing so have secured a remarkable second place finish. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will have their work cut out if they are to defeat a tough Southampton side who are vying for a Europa league place, but with our lads fresh and hungry from their intense match with Chelsea last Monday, we as fans can only be confident as our second place club have not lost to the saints in over a decade. As it is potentially the last full attendance match at White Hart Lane the club are urging all to help create a great atmosphere to show appreciation to our players for their exceptional season. Furthermore, the club are also urging fans to wear white and bring Spurs flags. COYS⚽️

Team news: Mousa Dembélé will miss tomorrow’s match after being handed a six game ban for an incident involving Diego Costa at Stamford bridge last Monday. Dele Alli will also miss out as he is also serving a ban whilst Nabil Bentaleb is out injured. Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld have been passed fit after both were brought off injured last Monday.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Mason, Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Kane.

My predicted score line: 3-0 to Spurs courtesy of goals from Kane x2 and Eriksen.

One to watch: Southampton’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mané who has scored 10 league goals and got 7 assists in the current campaign.

Kazaiah Sterling opened Spurs’s account early on from the penalty spot however, Birmingham equalised shortly afterwards after they volleyed home on 15 minutes. Sterling scored his second of the game with eight minutes to go in the second half, Sterling was played through from central defender Joy Mukena’s clearance before slotting home. Kieran McKenna will undoubtedly be happy with his sides very good performance to defeat the blues 4-1.

Our title hopes were ended in dramatic fashion last night as Spurs drew two all against arch rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It was a game that saw passion, pride and utter emotion from Pochettino’s men as regardless of the result they made each and every Spurs fan so proud of what the club have achieved this season. However, our draw against the blues confirmed that Leicester city were champions of the Barclays premier league. The game included much controversy as tempers boiled throughout and Spurs subsequently received 9 yellow cards, that were all picked up by different players which is the first time that has occurred since the premier leagues inception in 1992, this remarkable statistic indicates how heated and passionate a derby it was. The game started with a great intensity from both sides as both were well set up and looking to pounce on one another’s errors. Danny Rose went close eleven minutes in after the full back let fly from 25 metres out, Rose’s effort flew narrowly wide of the angle. Cesc Fàbregas went the closest for the blues shortly after 25 minutes, after the spaniard shot narrowly wide after receiving a pass on the edge of the box, Fàbregas hit a low effort which went agonisingly wide of the left post.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men took the lead less than ten minutes later with a beautifully worked goal, after Érik Lamela showcased his great vision after the Argentine played through Harry Kane who one on one, calmly jinked past Begović in the Chelsea net before slotting the ball in to the back of the net. Lamela almost scored five minutes later after the winger ran into to the box, Lamela hit a fine effort on goal after receiving a well measured cross from Kyle Walker. However, Gary Cahill made a vital block to deny Lamela from doubling our lead. However, it wasn’t to matter for Spurs as less than five minutes after Lamela’s opportunity Spurs doubled their lead through Son Heung-min. The South Korean international latched on to Eriksen’s through ball before firing the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net. The Lillywhites almost made the perfect start to the second half as on 54 minutes Son came desperately close to getting Spurs’s third, after he curled an effort narrowly wide of the left post from the edge of the box. The blues pulled one back a few minutes later after an unmarked Gary Cahill fired the ball beyond the helpless Lloris, as he saw his effort nestle into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

With less than 15 minutes remaining the newly introduced Ryan Mason almost made the headlines after the 24 year old received a pass just outside the area before side footing an effort towards the centre of the goal, which Begović saved well. Our title hopes dissipated on the 83rd minute through Eden Hazard, after the Belgian who was assisted by Diego Costa, curled a wonderfully accurate effort into the top right hand corner of the net. The Spurs players were visibly devastated at the full time whistle and so too were the fans, some unpleasant skirmishes occurred down the tunnel at the end between the Spurs players and staff and the Chelsea players and staff. However, we must remain upbeat for the Southampton match as we look to round off a magnificent season by finishing in second position. Let’s roar on the players for next weeks match against the saints, so we can show our appreciation for has been one of the best league campaigns in Tottenham Hotspur’s history. COYS⚽️

Spurs under 18’s: our under 18’s played their last match of the under 18 league season against fierce rivals Arsenal at the Arsenal training centre in Colney. The match finished 3-3 with two of the goals scored from Spurs likely to go down as own goals, whilst Aramide Oteh netted the other in a terrific and thrilling north London derby in a game in which Kieran McKenna’s side should be extremely proud. For those interested in a detailed report on the game please visit the below link which will take you to the official Spurs website.

We last beat Chelsea at Stamford bridge on the tenth of February 1990 however, this remarkable season has seen many old records broken and Pochettino’s men who are still in the title race will fancy their chances against the reigning champions who sit ninth in the league table. Chelsea will undoubtedly be up for this game despite not having much to play for, with their winger Eden Hazard spoke of his desire to end our title challenge at the bridge. The lads will certainly face a great test on Monday night with the blues possessing an array of talents including their top scorer Diego Costa, but with our young talents hungry to finish the season on a high Guus Hiddink’s side will be up against it when they kick off against our high flying Lillywhites.

Team news: Nabil Bentaleb and Dele Alli are the two absentees for our visit to west London with the latter having been suspended for three games after an incident in the West Brom match. Meanwhile, Eric Dier may not start on Monday night after he suffered a concussion in the West Brom match and Pochettino spoke the other day on Dier’s progress; “Eric Dier suffered concussion but has been training well. We’ll need to make a decision on Sunday.” If Dier were to miss Monday nights match then central midfielder Ryan Mason would likely join Mousa Dembélé in the centre of the park. Whilst Heung Min Son will probably replace Dele Alli with the South Korean international likely being played on the left wing, with Christian Eriksen being played behind Harry Kane.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Mason, Dembélé, Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Kane.

My predicted scoreline: 2-1 to Spurs with goals from Eriksen and Kane.

One to watch: Chelsea’s top scorer in the league with 11 goals and six assists, Diego Costa.

Spurs under 21’s 3-2 Ebbsfleet United:

Our under 21’s defeated an Ebbsfleet United under 21’s side 3-2 at Stonehenge road in an exhibition match last night. The Lillywhites side was made up of mostly under under 19’s with wholesale changes being made at the break which saw almost two different Spurs youth sides take on the Fleet in the two separate halves. Ebbsfleet fielded a strong side with many having played first team football for the Kent club and also in the football league however, it was a victorious night for Spurs as Joe Pritchard scored a first half brace before young under 18 striker Aramide Oteh scored the third, in what was a very good performance from the young Spurs starlets in a thrilling match of football. Furthemore, Marcus Edwards and former Ebbsfleet player Shilow Tracey were noted as having played extremely well in the match as well as both the goalscorers.

(Joe Pritchard as pictured below in action, Pritchard scored a brace.)

Tottenham Hotspur’s title hopes took a great blow last night as they drew one all against the baggies at White Hart Lane, in what was an extremely frustrating night for all involved with the club. Leicester now lead at the top by seven points with just three games remaining, the foxes could clinch the league title this Sunday with victory over Manchester United. The game started well for Spurs as Christian Eriksen forced a fine save out of Boaz Myhill on six minutes, after his free kick from just outside the area was thwarted wide from the Welshman as Eriksen’s precise effort was heading for the bottom left hand corner of the net. Spurs went close again three minutes later this time via Harry Kane who after being played through in the box by Alli, struck a low effort which was superbly tipped onto the post by the alert Myhill. Eriksen again came desperately close to opening the lead for Spurs, as 14 minutes in the Denmark international hit an excellent curling free kick which struck the top of the bar, Myhill was helpless in the West Brom net. However, shortly after the half hour mark Pochettino’s men took the lead after Christian Eriksen whipped a delicious free kick in to the area which made contact with the unfortunate Craig Dawson who put the ball beyond Myhill and into his own net.

image

The second half started positively for the Lillywhites as they continued to attack against a well structured West Brom defence. Shortly before the hour mark Erik Lamela almost doubled Spurs’s lead after the Argentinian received a cross from Eriksen which Lamela hit first time, his fine effort came off the bottom of the right post before being cleared away by a west brom player. With less than 20 minutes remaining on the clock West Brom went the closet they had come all night after Salomón Rondón fired an effort at goal from within the six yard box. However the Venezuelans effort was superbly tipped over the bar by Lloris however, the baggies equalised from the resulting corner after Craig Dawson planted his header into the back of the net after rising high in the box. The match finished disappointingly as the final score was one-one, it was a hugely frustrating point for the lads in a game in which we controlled from the offing but just couldn’t put to sleep as the baggies persistence and defensive game play halted our lads in the final third. Christian Eriksen was my man of the match as he consistently created chances and the Dane came close to scoring on two occasions last night. It’s Chelsea up next for Mauricio Pochettino’s men who will be itching to play the blues next Monday night at Stamford bridge as we look to maintain second place with three imperative matches remaining, as our tenacious players look to end the season by finishing in our highest position of the premier league era. Marcus Edwards: Tottenham’s dazzling wonder kid

Marcus Edwards: Tottenham’s dazzling wonder kid

image.jpeg

Facts:
– Born in London, England
– Position: CAM (Cente attacking midfielder)
– Attended Winchmore hill school
– Edwards has been capped by England at under 16 and under 17 level
– Marcus is also eligible to represent Cyprus at international level

17 year old Marcus Edwards is a gem with in our youth academy and the starlet is fast becoming one of the most talked about youth prospects in England. A centre attacking midfielder by trade Edwards can also play on the wing, with his prodigious technique and incredible acumen, the weight of Edwards passing is phenomenal as too is the 17 year olds balance and skill. Edwards holds all the attributes that are essential in becoming a world class offensive footballer. A first year scholar, Edwards has been a key player for our under 18s this season and his wonderful performances have been eye catching, most notably his exceptional performance against Arsenal under 18’s where he scored a brace. Edwards has also been involved in a few under 21 matches this campaign which shows how advanced he is in his development at the club. I have seen Marcus play on numerous occasions for the under 18’s and twice for the under 21’s where he shone. In addition i have also seen him play internationally for England under 17’s.

(Edwards pictured below, playing for England under 17s against Italy)

image.jpeg

Marcus has represented England at under 16,17 and most recently at under 18 level and the young Tottenham man has excelled on the international stage for the young lions. Only recently Edwards got two braces for England under 18’s in less than a week against both Austria and the Republic of Ireland. Watching Edwards play is like watching poetry in motion, with his phenomenal ball control and searing pace the 17 year old has the ability to change a game. Edwards can without doubt become a star at White Hart lane for Pochettino’s men in the future, and the 17 year old may not have that long to wait before he makes his debut as the talented Onomah made his senior debut shortly before becoming 18 in the FA cup last season. Edwards reading of the game is quite remarkable for someone so young, his intelligence of the game is as exceptional as his ability with the ball at his feet. Edwards future development still has a long way to go before he’ll be ready for Pochettino’s side. However, with great youth coaches such as Kieran McKenna of the under 18’s and Ugo Ehiogu of the under 21’s at the Tottenham academy, he will be carefully nurtured as he continues to improve. Remember the name!

Below are a couple of videos showing Marcus Edwards in action for both Spurs and England:

(Reo Griffiths pictured above playing in the lion city cup against Liverpool.)

Our under 16’s were involved in a friendly match with Ipswich in Enfield yesterday afternoon, and the young Lillywhites were unlucky not to get a draw. Despite being three goals behind at half time, Spurs managed to get two goals back in the second half with both goals being scored by Reo Griffiths, with Tashan Oakley-Boothe assisting him on both occasions. The game finished 3-2 to the tractor boys however, on a separate note both Griffiths and Oakley-Boothe have been outstanding throughout the course of the season with both also impressing at under 18 level for Spurs. I look forward to seeing this talented pool of players from the under 16’s as first year year scholars next season for the under 18’s. Bright times are ahead for our superbly talented club. COYS⚽️
