Spurs under 23’s versus Chelsea: (match preview)
Our under 23’s first game of 2020 is a big London derby against Chelsea, at Stevenage Borough’s Lamex Stadium on Monday night. Wayne Burnett’s side have enjoyed a good season so far and they currently occupy sixth spot in the PL2 division one. Andy Myers’ Chelsea on the other hand are unbeaten in the league and they sit in second place with 24 points from 12 games, and a game in hand. Chelsea boast a wealth of talent and with names such as Billy Gilmour, Clinton Mola and Marc Guehi on their books, there is no doubting that this will be a seriously difficult encounter for Spurs. Furthermore Spurs will likely have to do without important players such as Luis Binks, Malachi Fagan-Walcott and Harvey White owing to our under 18’s important FA Youth Cup game against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday. This however, will give playing time for other players to step in. For those interested Monday nights game is being shown live on Chelsea TV. I would like to wish the lads all the very best of luck for the game.
My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) De Bie, Okedina, Eyoma (c), Lyons-Foster, Hinds, Oakley-Boothe, Maghoma, Jack Clarke, Shashoua, Tracey, Richards.
Subs from: Oluwayemi, Dinzeyi, Patterson, Markanday, Rayan Clarke.
Injured/unavailable: Kazaiah Sterling.
Doubtful: Jamie Bowden, Jeremie Mukendi.
Previous meeting: 2-2.
My score prediction: Spurs 2-1.
My one to watch: Chelsea’s talented central midfielder Billy Gilmour (18) who has already featured on two occasions for their first team in the Premier League this season. Gilmour has excellent vision and great passing ability, and the Scotland under 21 international has the ability to take players out of the game with a single pass.
