Spurs under 18’s versus Fulham: (match preview)
Spurs were stunned by Saturday’s opponents Fulham on the opening day of the league season when they were comprehensively beaten 4-0 by the ‘ Cottagers ‘ at their Motspur Park training facility. Matt Taylor’s side were totally outplayed by a very good Fulham side and since beating us back in August they have been in outstanding form. Fulham occupy second spot in the under 18 premier league south with 27 points from 11 games, they are also unbeaten in the league. Matt Taylor’s Spurs side finished 2019 with an impressive 4-3 victory over Leicester City and they’ll be hoping to put in a similar performance on Saturday morning. Steve Wigley’s side on the other hand will be desperate to keep up their unbeaten record and with quality players such as skilful attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho, centre forward Jay Stansfield and winger Sylvester Jasper they are sure to give Spurs a tough game. This game takes place at an interesting time for Spurs, as the young Lilywhites have a hugely important FA Youth Cup fourth round tie against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday, so I would imagine that a number of players will be rested for Saturday’s game.
My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Kurylowicz, Lusala, Muir, Skinner, Cirkin (c), John, Robson, Whittaker, Pedder, Cooper, Etete.
Subs from: Lo-Tutala, Cesay, Santiago, Mundle, Carrington.
Injured/unavailable: Michael Craig.
Doubtful: Matthew Craig, Enock Asante, Nile John, Dane Scarlett.
Previous meeting: Spurs 0-4.
My score prediction: 2-2.
My one to watch: Former Exeter City schoolboy Jay Stansfield. Stansfield has been in brilliant form for Fulham’s under 18 side this season, and he has netted an extremely impressive 18 goals in 11 league matches so far this campaign. Apart from being a very good finisher, Stansfield also has very good off the ball movement.
