Spurs under 18’s versus Derby County: (match preview)

Our under 18’s play their final game of the league season on Saturday afternoon as John McDermott’s side take on Derby county at the rams Moor farm training ground. Still in with a chance of topping their merit group, the young Lillywhites will be eager to end their domestic season with a victory to round off what has been a successful campaign. I’m expecting Spurs to lineup with a strong squad for the visit of Derby county. Fresh from their emphatic 3-0 victory over Everton in midweek, McDermott’s side face a Derby side who occupy fourth spot in tier two. Although I haven’t seen the rams play this season, I know they have picked up some notable victories during the campaign including a 4-0 thumping over Manchester United on the opening day of the season. Whether Spurs top the group will depend on other results, whatever happens this group of players can hold their heads high, they’ve enjoyed a very good season under McDermott. COYS

My predicted lineup: Austin, Hinds, Omolabi, Tanganga, Tsaroulla, Skipp, Marsh(C), Bennetts, Roles, Shashoua, Sterling.

Known absentees: Dinzeyi, Eyoma, Oakley-Boothe, Griffiths.

In another bit of youth football related news, the EFL announced on Friday morning that 16 development sides would be invited for a second season to the Checkatrade trophy, with some big changes made to the competition. I’m hoping Spurs will decide to take part next season for a tournament which provides academy players vital experience against senior sides. The news around whether we are involved or not, will become clearer in the coming months.

One to watch: Derby forward Cameron Cresswell, who has netted 11 goals this season.
