Our under 18’s started the season in style today after they defeated Southampton 4-1 at Hotspur way. The young Lillywhites took the lead on 14 minutes after captain George Marsh sent a high ball over the top in which forward Reo Griffiths latched onto before being brought down inside the box, a penalty was awarded. Samuel Shashoua converted from the spot to give the Lillywhites the lead, Jack Roles doubled our lead 25 minutes in after receiving the ball from Griffiths before firing a low range shot which went through the hands of the Southampton goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Just over ten minutes into to second half Griffiths made it 3-0 to Spurs, after being played in by Bennetts the striker made no mistake in front of goal as he slotted home. Southampton grabbed one back after Smallbone fired home from 25 yards out. However, we got our fourth and final goal of the game through Tashan Oakley-Boothe after the midfielder fired high into the net from a tight angle following exchanging passes with Griffiths, the final score Spurs 4-1 Southampton.
