Tottenham Hotspur 3 Crystal Palace 1!

This afternoon saw us travel to south Norwood in the Barclays Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace at Selhurst park, a fixture for which we had one objective to take those 3 points back with us north of the river. This London derby  started with us dominating possession playing strongly with the ball at our feet we were by far the dominate force in the first 25 but were slightly lacking on the creative front with the exception, of an unmarked Toby Alderweireld header powered   wide from a whipped Eriksen corner. However the dead lock was broken at the half way mark Palace found themselves 1 up after a cross made unfortunate contact from a defending Jan Vertonghen, which nestled kindly for Palace in the back of the net. Although it only took us 10 minutes to begin to respond tactically, Danny Rose launched a powerful strike from a resulting lofted pass only to be fantastically denied by the lighting fast reflexes of Wayne Hennessey.

Shortly after the restart Eriksen unleashed a spectacular long range dipping effort which  flew narrowly wide of the postage stamp. The tempo had changed and our tenacity and quality showed in the 63rd minute, a precise lofted ball from Nacer Chadli met the head of Harry Kane, his header flew in to the top corner 1-1! But Palace weren’t giving up and a mere 7 minutes later Zaha had a good effort from just outside the Box denied brilliantly by the acrobatic Hugo Lloris who thwarted it wide, and soon after a blizzard of Palace chances hit the woodwork and forced yet more Lloris wonder saves, and it seemed as if we’d settle for the draw as Palace went from strength to strength, but Dele Alli had other ideas he controlled a precise pass hit it over Mile Jedinak and hit a most beautiful rocket of a shot into the bottom left hand corner of the goal, arguably the best premier league goal of the season. Surely the winner, Tottenham fans revelling in this most spectacular of moments, and yet just after our hearts were in our mouths former Spurs man Frazier Campbell thought he had earned a draw, but oh no for Hugo Lloris pulled off another exceptional save.

But our nerves were relieved as Alli sent a perfect pass to Chadli who curled in a marvellous effort from outside the box to send our fans in to delirium 3-1 it finished were 4 points clear in fourth and playing under Pochettino arguably some of the greatest football in Europe at the moment. COYS

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace

Venue: Selhurst park

Date: Saturday 23 January 3:00pm

Live coverage: Absolute radio

Head 2 heads:  Last 3 meetings- Tottenham 1-0,Crystal palace2-1,Tottenham0-Cpa0.

Preview:We go into this game on a high after our 2-0 victory over Leicester in the FA cup in midweek. An added bonus is Crystal Palace’s poor form of late, having  failed to win in their last four league matches and also struggling for goals of recent. Yet Palace are no pushovers this season having accumulated an impressive amount of points under the leadership of Alan Pardew they have surprised many by their consistency and strength especially against top sides in the league this season, and we know all to well the challenge that we’ll be up against tomorrow afternoon. Having fought off the Eagles at white Hart lane earlier in the season, they proved hard to break down and there explosive pace and creativity provided us with a very tough test,  although we ultimately managed to defeat them 1-0 courtesy  Of a Heung min Son goal.

A reshuffle is expected in the squad tomorrow with the defensive pairing of Toby and Jan returning and the rested Hugo Lloris. Moussa was also given a rest midweek and is expected to return in midfield with Eric Dier, however it is unknown whether Heung-Min Son’s excellent midweek performance will see him start in place of Erik Lamela who could with a rest and it is predicted Danny Rose will return as left back having been rested mid week. Elsewhere the injury list stays the same with Ryan Mason,Alex Pritchard and Clinton all out.

My predicted line up: image.png

My score prediction: 2-1 Spurs with goals from Dier and Kane.
