Spurs Under 21’s versus Peterborough United: (match preview)

Spurs’ Under 21 side face League One side Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium, in their second group game of the 2022/23 edition of the Papa Johns Trophy, on Tuesday night (the game starts at 19:30pm). Spurs lost 3-1 to Blackburn Rovers at Hotspur Way on Saturday, in their most recent Premier League 2 fixture. However, the side that started that game for Spurs, could be quite different to the side that starts against Peterborough United tomorrow, because of international call-ups. Spurs played really well, and they also defended really well against Wycombe Wanderers, in their first group game of the competition. And a similar performance against a Peterborough side who have lost their last six matches, could see Spurs get a good result tomorrow, as they look to progress out of their group. Peterborough are a talented team however, and this will be far from an easy game for Spurs, against a senior side. However, I would like to wish the Spurs team all the very best of luck for the game.

My predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Keeley, Cesay, Fagan-Walcott, Muir, Lyons-Foster, White, John (c), Santiago, Robson, Mundle, Williams.

Subs from: Hayton, Abbott, Linton, McKnight, Hall, Akhamrich, Mathurin.

Injured/unavailable: N/A.

Doubtful: Tyrell Ashcroft (injury), Aaron Maguire (international call-up), Jamie Donley (international call-up), Kallum Cesay (international call-up), Matthew Craig (international call-up), Alfie Dorrington  (international call-up).

Previous meeting: N/A.

My score prediction: Spurs 2-1.

My one to watch: David Ajiboye. The former Spurs Academy player is a very skilful player who has great pace. The 23 year old winger did really well for Sutton United last season in League Two, and he is a player who also has a real eye for goal.
