Spurs u21’s 2-3 Manchester United u21’s: (match report)
Our under 21’s played their last game of the premier league season last night, and Ugo Ehiogu’s team were involved in a thrilling match which had much at stake for the visitors, as a win for the Red Devils would crown them champions of the under 21 premier league. The talented man united side that had five players who had played senior football this season, took the lead after just six minutes. As Scotland under 21 international Donald Love fired United into the lead after receiving a pass from Pereira, Love hit a powerful low drive to find the bottom left hand corner of the net. United doubled their lead through Pereira ten minutes later, the Brazilian found the back of the net after he was found unmarked in the Spurs box and Pereira directed the ball well past McGee in the Spurs net. Ehiogu’s side pulled a goal back through the skipper Will Miller on 26 minutes after he was found by Stylianides, Miller who hit a low and accurate effort from just outside the box which nestled in the far corner of the net. Just past the hour mark Anton Walkes almost drew level after a spectacular solo effort, Walkes from long range tried a dipping volley which only narrowly went over the bar. Pereira almost secured the three points for United on 79 minutes, after he got ahead of Walkes, Pereira curled a delicious effort which hit the post.
The newly introduced Marcus Edwards helped Spurs equalise with just six minutes remaining on the clock, Edwards pull back was played into the path of Pritchard who converted from close range to draw Spurs level. However, deep in stoppage time Man united got the winner after the ball came out to Varela on the edge of the box and the Uruguayan fired an unstoppable shot beyond the helpless McGee. It was a tough blow to take for the young Spurs side who battled hard against a very tough United side who ran out as champions at the full time whistle.
