Spurs under 15’s 3-1 Ipswich town under 15’s (Academy showcase match)
Our under 15’s won in spectacular fashion against Ipswich under 15’s in an an academy showcase match at Portman road this evening, with our under 15’s winning 3-1 on the evening. Spurs took a mere 15 minutes to break the deadlock as Jamie Bowden opened the Lillywhites account with an excellent strike from 25 yards out, his fine effort dipped powerfully over the head over Toby Egan in the Ipswich net, 1-0 to Spurs! Our attacking midfielder Phoenix Patterson almost doubled the lead for the young Spurs side on 31 minutes, Patterson made a fantastic surging run wrong footing an Ipswich defender before playing through Rodel Richards who’s shot was blocked back in to Patterson’s path, and Patterson fired the ball from within the penalty area. The youngsters effort was desperately unlucky as his shot from close range cannoned off the crossbar. However just before the referee blew the half time whistle the tractor boys equalised, Ipswich carved their way through the Tottenham defence and from inside the box Armando Dobra deliciously scooped the ball over the head of Oluwayemi to level for Ipswich, 1-1 at halftime. The standout player of the first half was Phoenix Patterson his incredible ball control and explosive pace caused the Ipswich defence a whole host of problems.
The second half was only eight minutes old when Ipswich almost took an early lead, an Ipswich forward received the ball from with in the box and with space he fired from close range, only to see his effort excellently blocked by Jubril Okedina. However, shortly afterwards Spurs took the lead from none other than the potent Phoenix Patterson, Patterson embarked on a long weaving run before getting on the end of a rebound in side the box and he fired the ball beyond the reach of the helpless Egan, Patterson reaped his reward, 2-1 to Spurs! Patterson struck again shortly after netting his first of the evening, he darted forward and let fly from close to 30 yards out, his spectacular effort nestled high in to the top right hand corner of the net, 3-1 to Spurs. On 62 minutes Patterson almost got his hat trick after firing a low shot from just outside the box however, the youngsters effort flew narrowly wide of the left post. Paris Maghoma curled an effort just over the bar from over 20 yards out but his effort was to be the last of note before the referee sounded the full time whistle, the final score Spurs under 15’s 3-1 Ipswich under 15’s, Spurs under 15’s played superbly as they outclassed the blues to get their hands on the annual trophy.
Additional notes: Phoenix Patterson was undoubtedly the man of the match, the teenagers performance was astonishing as he got a brace for the Lillywhites on the night, with his mesmeric skill and pace Patterson wowed the crowd at Portman road, and he is without doubt one of our brightest young players in our academy set up. In addition Paris Maghoma was incredibly solid in the centre of midfield, he reminded me a bit of a young Eric Dier with efficient defending and covering at centre back, Maghoma was an anchor in the field of play. Furthermore, our young goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi made a string of fine saves and centre back Max Stratham was imperative in keeping the goals away, Stratham made a fine performance at centre back.
