This afternoon Spurs officially announced that our 21 year old defender Dominic Ball has joined championship side Rotherham United. Ball joins the Millers on a three year contract for an undisclosed fee, the talented and versatile defender played over 30 games for Rangers last season in a successful loan spell at the Scottish club. Ball who joined Spurs from Watford as a trainee in 2011 was also linked with Rangers and Leeds United, I am sad to see the talented youngster leave. I thought Ball would be given an opportunity this season, but with such a choice of midfielders its probably best for Ball to move on to aid he’s development as a player. I wish Dominic all the very best at his new club, and I am sure the talented youngster will become a key player for the Millers.

Spurs officially announce new first year scholars for coming season:

imageThis evening Spurs announced via Twitter the players who have have been awarded scholarships at Spurs and who will be part of our under 18’s side for the coming season. The first year scholars for next seasons campaign are as follows: Charlie Freeman, Timothy Eyoma, Jonathan Dinzeyi, Reo Griffiths, Tariq Hinds, Matthew Lock, Tashan Oakley-Boothe, Moroyin Omolabi and Jamie Reynolds. This years pool of players are an extremely talented group of players who have exciting careers ahead of them, Oakley-Boothe who has been capped at England under 16 level, is an exceptionally talented prospect, a versatile midfielder Oakley-Boothe reminds me of Dembele with his style of play. The skilful midfielder already made a couple of appearances at under 18 level last season, scoring one goal. Another highly rated player is Reo Griffiths, the striker excelled for our under 16’s last season as he netted over 30 goals, Griffiths is a hot prospect who I am looking forward to seeing for our under 18’s over the coming season. Young goalkeeper Charlie Freeman is yet another top talent within our academy, Freeman recently had a successful youth loan for Newcastle United at the super cup, Freeman is noted for being a very good shot stopper.

Jonathan Dinzeyi and Timothy Eyoma are also exceptionally talented centre halfs who both played for the under 18’s during last years campaign. I don’t know a great deal about the other talented young players and their styles of play. However, you can find out about them in the link provided below which provides profiles of all our first year scholars. Our under 18’s start their league campaign at home to Southampton this Saturday. Last night our winger Son Heung-min played the entirety of South Koreas 3-3 draw against Germany at the Olympics, Son got his second goal of the games shortly before the hour mark after a wonderful solo effort in which Son went on a surging run, Son beat a defender before firing home through the legs of the goalkeeper. Son played extremely well for South Korea last night, they play their final group game against Mexico this Wednesday.

Development squad and under 18’s both end pre-season with a win:

Our development squad beat Fulham 4-3 at Hotspur way in a thrilling encounter against the cottagers today. The west London side took the lead on 16 minutes after a harsh penalty was awarded after Kyle Walker-Peters was deemed to have fouled in the box, Fulham scored from the penalty spot. A little over ten minutes later we were awarded our own penalty however, Nathan Oduwa was unable to level from the spot, although we finally equalised on 35 minutes through Anthony Georgiou. Georgiou doubled our lead eight minutes later to get his second of the game. The cottagers levelled on the hour mark before striker Ryan Loft put us ahead, yet Fulham struck back again with six minutes remaining before we got the winner via a Fulham own goal in stoppage time. Meanwhile, our under 18’s defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1 at the Addicks training ground. We went behind shortly after the half hour mark before forward Reo Griffiths levelled for the Lillywhites, and it was centre back Joy Mukena who grabbed the winner late on in the 86th minute. COYS⚽️

Spurs put 6 past Inter Milan in excellent pre season performance in Norway:

Spurs put 6 past Inter Milan in excellent pre season performance in Norway:

image.jpeg

This afternoon Spurs put in an exceptional performance in their final pre season match before the start of the season, with Pochettino’s side defeating Italian side Inter Milan 6-1. Spurs took the lead just five minutes in after a penalty was awarded following a foul on Kyle Walker in the penalty area, Harry Kane sent a thumping shot past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to the Lillywhites. However, Roberto Mancini’s side equalised on 24 minutes through Ivan Perisic, after the Croatian was picked out by Banega on the left wing before darting past Walker and firing inside Vorm’s near post to make it one all. Shortly before half time Mauricio Pochettino’s side regained the lead after Erik Lamela scored an absolutely sensational goal. The Argentine was picked out by Kane and with space Lamela curled a wonderful shot into the top hand corner of the net from 25 yards out leaving Handanovic helpless. We started the second half just as well as we had started the first and we were rewarded seven minutes in through Dele Alli who got Spurs’s third of the game. Dele Alli played a quick one two with Janssen in the box before tucking the ball with great precision and pace in to the bottom right hand corner of the net.

A mere five minutes later Harry Kane grabbed his second of the game to make it 4-1 to Spurs, Kane was found by Lamela before shifting the ball onto his right foot from just inside the area before hitting a wonderfully powerful finish which flew in to the back of the net. Janssen got his first goal for Spurs soon after, after the highly impressive Dutchman was played through in the area by Alli who had danced his way past Inter’s defence and a composed Janssen hit an accurate finish to make it five for Spurs. Our final goal of the game came through 19 year old Shayon Harrison who got his first goal for Spurs, after some great hold up play from Janssen the forward passed to Lamela who crossed in to Harrison from right before the youngster tapped home to make it Spurs 6-1 Inter Milan. We couldn’t have asked for a better performance ahead of next weeks opener against Everton our side was simply exceptional in every aspect, every player was extremely impressive. One thing is for certain we will be a better, stronger and more potent side ahead of the upcoming league season. COYS⚽️

Spurs v Inter Milan: (match preview)

image.jpeg

Venue: Ullevaal Stadion

Date: Friday 5th August, kick off 4pm

Live coverage: ITV4

Head2Heads: Inter 4-1, Spurs 3-0, Spurs 3-1, Inter 4-3.

Tommorow afternoon we face Inter Milan in Oslo, Norway in what will be our last game of pre season before the start of our league campaign to Everton on the 13th of August. We are no strangers to the Italian giants having played some classic ties against them over the years including some thrillers in the champions league and with our remaining first team squad members returning, Pochettino will be hoping his side can star in their last outing before the beginning of the season . Victor Wanyama and Jan Vertonghen didn’t travel to Norway, Wanyama’s visa wasn’t accepted in time whilst Jan Vertonghen is still recovering from an injury he picked up at Euro 2016. Son-Heung Min is on international duty with the South Korean Olympic side ahead of the games in Rio, South Korea face Fiji tomorrow morning. Speculation will be mounting following the absence of  Nacer Chadli, Clinton N’Jie, DeAndre Yedlin, Nabil Bentaleb, who have all been linked with a move away from Spurs. Many of the youngsters that played in Australia have also travelled  having impressed Pochettino down under, tomorrow however is about performing well as a team against a top class opposition as our talented squad looks to impress ahead of next weeks game at Goodison park. I have a feeling tomorrow’s game will provide much excitement and quite a few goals. COYS⚽️

The squad:

one to watch: Mauro Icardi, Inter’s extremely talented and prolific striker.

My prediction: 3-1 Spurs with goals from Dele Alli, Vincent Janssen and Shayon Harrison.

Alex Pritchard signs for Norwich:

Alex Pritchard signs for Norwich:

image.jpeg

It has been announced this morning that our 23 year old winger Alex Pritchard has joined championship side Norwich city on a four year contract for a fee believed to be as much as £8 million pounds. The academy product flourished for both our under 18’s and under 21’s in the past before having successful loans with both Swindon and Brentford as well as Peterborough and West Brom. An extremely talented youngster Pritchard was even rumoured to have been a target for Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid back in 2012. Pritchard who is known for his creativity and trickery is noted for being an exceptional free kick taker, having scored free kicks on numerous occasions throughout his career. Pritchard who made two appearances for the Lillywhites senior side side has had injury problems throughout his career with Spurs and that may well be one of the reasons that Spurs have decided to sell him to the south coast club. I find it sad news that Pritchard was never able to showcase his talents for our senior side and were it not for injuries Pritchard may well have been a key feature in Pochettino’s side. The winger who is from Orsett in Essex, has bags of talent and potential, and Norwich have managed to sign a fantastic player in Pritchard and I am sure that he will flourish for the canaries over the coming seasons, I wish Alex all the very best at his new club.

Federico Fazio joins Roma on loan with option to buy:

Federico Fazio joins Roma on loan with option to buy:

image.jpeg

It is understood that our defender Federico Fazio has joined Serie A side Roma on a season long loan with an option to sign the Argentine for £3.5 million. Roma’s official English Twitter account posted pictures of Fazio arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino airport last night as he held a Roma scarf in front of photographers. I would assume an official announcement from both clubs will be made official later today, it became apparent early on in Fazio’s time at Spurs that he wasn’t able to adapt well to the English league. The former Sevilla captain was ultimately in the wrong league at the wrong time however, I believe he is a class footballer and will showcase he’s defensive qualities at Roma over the coming season. I wish Federico the all very best at his new club.

Spurs reach agreement with Ipswich town for the transfer of midfielder Grant Ward

image.jpeg

This afternoon Spurs confirmed on Twitter that they had reached an agreement with championship club Ipswich town over the transfer of our young midfielder Grant Ward for a fee believed to be around  £500,000. Ward joins Ipswich on a three year deal, I must admit I was quite surprised when I found out that the talented midfielder had departed the Lillywhites as Ward had always been a player who i’d rated highly having seen him play on numerous occasions. However, with so much competition for a place in our midfield for the coming season it seems the thing best for Ward’s future development. The 21 year old who had spent last season on loan with Rotherham will without doubt in my opinion have a successful career with the tractor boys and I wish him all the very best at his new club.

Spurs under 21’s win final game of tournament in France:

image.jpeg

Our under 21’s side won their final match of the Tournoi Europeen in Brittany earlier today after they defeated Belgian side Standard Liege in a penalty shoot out. Spurs took the lead on 22 minutes after defender Christian Maghoma converted from Anthony Georgiou’s free kick however, a mere four minutes later the Belgian Jupiler league side levelled after being awarded a spot kick after a Spurs player handled in the box. Neither side could grab a winner in the second half and with both sides being reduced to ten men, the match was to be decided by a sudden death penalty shoot out. Nathan Oduwa and Anthony Georgiou both converted their spot kicks whilst goalkeeper Harry Voss produced heroics in the Spurs goal, saving two penalties meaning our under 21’s were 2-0 winners, finishing the pre season tournament in seventh place.

Spurs (v Standard Liege): Voss, Muscatt (Mukena 54), Brown, Marsh, Maghoma, Owens (Loft 60+2), Georgiou, Stylianides, Oduwa, Tracey (Oteh 58), J Pritchard.
