Spurs under 21’s 3-1 Sunderland under 21’s: (match report)

Ugo Ehiogu’s side impressively defeated Barclays under 21 table toppers Sunderland, at White Hart lane last night in a game that saw young Spurs striker Shayon Harrison bag his first hat-trick at under 21 level for Spurs. The first real chance of the match came for Sunderland seven minutes in, after Mikael Mandron came one on one with Glover before forcing the young Australian goalkeeper in to making a stunning save, as Glover expertly thwarted Mandron’s powerful effort away from danger. However, Spurs took the lead at the other end shortly afterwards through Shayon Harrison who was played in by Geourgio who had pounced on Sunderland’s mishap at the back as he passed to Harrison who rolled the ball into the empty net. Harrison netted his second of the game less than ten minutes after his first, after being found via an excellent cross on the left wing by Miller, Harrison leapt high as he headed an accurate finish into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

The black cats pulled one back eight minutes later through George Honeyman after Greenwood squared it for the midfielder to tuck the ball home from close range. Tom Glover made a world class save soon afterwards to deny Sunderland from drawing level, Glover made a phenomenal reaction save to stop Mandron’s bullet header. Sunderland piled on the pressure against Spurs in the remaining minutes of the first half and Lawson came desperately close to equalising for the black cats, as his effort from close range cannoned off the cross bar. The second half started well for the Lillywhites as they showed great tenacity and resilience with in the field of play, and just past the hour mark Harrison was denied his hat-trick after being played in by Miller, the young striker fired an effort at goal which was saved well by Strykeck. However it was not to matter as Harrison sealed the victory for Spurs in stoppage time of the second half, Harrison turned well after being played through by Pritchard before slotting home a wonderfully placed goal which nestled perfectly in the bottom right hand corner of the net. Spurs ran out deserved 3-1 winners on the night as Shayon Harrison capped of a wonderful individual performance with a hat-trick, Ehiogu’s men men were extremely impressive and his young side now climb up to fifth in the under 21 league table.

Additional notes: Shayon Harrison’s excellent performance made him my man of the match, his movement,athleticism and passion made him potent through out in addition, he was extremely clinical as he bagged his first hat-trick of the season. Furthermore, Harry Winks had an excellent game in the centre of midfield as too did Zenon Stylianides, the midfield pairing bossed the centre of the park as they put in a fine performance snuffing out any danger, as well as creating chances higher up the pitch. Tom Glover again wowed the crowd with his excellent goalkeeping ability, the young Australian made a string of excellent saves, he also showcased his exceptional
aerial ability and communication skills. Furthermore Filip Lesniak and Anton Walkes were extremely solid at the back with both executing vital challenges and interceptions as they helped Spurs to victory.
